đź“‹ Description

  • • Sumitomo Pharma Co., Ltd. is seeking a dynamic Business Excellence and HR Technology Project Manager to drive operational efficiency and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organization. This pivotal role, reporting to the VP of HR Technology and Business Excellence, is instrumental in leading and advising on cross-functional initiatives that enhance business performance, support organizational transformation, and embed excellence into the company's DNA. The position is crucial for shaping and executing strategic projects that leverage Lean and Agile methodologies to achieve tangible improvements across the U.S. operations of this global pharmaceutical company, which is dedicated to addressing patient needs in critical areas such as oncology, urology, women's health, rare diseases, cell & gene therapies, and CNS.
  • • As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end oversight of projects, from their initial conception through to successful delivery. This involves meticulously defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables in close collaboration with senior leadership, ensuring a strong alignment with overarching business goals. A core aspect of this role is the integration of Lean strategies to systematically improve efficiency and minimize waste throughout project lifecycles. You will develop comprehensive project plans, establish realistic timelines, and manage budgets effectively, diligently tracking progress against key milestones. Your ability to adapt plans as needed, leveraging Lean tools such as value stream mapping and Kaizen events, will be critical for ensuring successful outcomes and driving continuous improvement.
  • • A significant part of your role will involve serving as the primary liaison for all project-related communications. You will provide clear and timely updates on project status, identify and articulate potential risks, and report on key milestones achieved. Facilitating open and effective communication with stakeholders across all organizational levels is paramount. You will be expected to report on the effectiveness of Lean initiatives using defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), demonstrating the tangible impact of your work.
  • • Fostering strong cross-functional collaboration is essential for success in this position. You will work to ensure that project teams are cohesive, aligned, and working collaboratively towards shared objectives. This involves engaging closely with teams ranging from frontline employees to senior management to gain a deep understanding of current operational processes and to co-develop effective Lean improvement strategies. Your ability to build bridges between departments and encourage a unified approach to problem-solving will be a key differentiator.
  • • You will be the champion for integrating Lean, Agile, and other process improvement methodologies to enhance both efficiency and effectiveness across the organization. This includes actively identifying and eliminating wasteful practices by applying Lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and value stream mapping. Conducting thorough post-project reviews to capture valuable lessons learned and to promote a cycle of ongoing improvement will be a regular part of your responsibilities. Furthermore, you will lead training sessions designed to educate employees on fundamental Lean principles and to cultivate a pervasive culture of continuous improvement. You will also provide coaching to employees and project teams on Lean Six Sigma principles, effective problem-solving techniques, and the application of various continuous improvement tools.
  • • Proactive risk management is a critical component of this role. You will be expected to identify potential project risks early on and develop robust mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address any challenges that may arise, ensuring the sustainability of Lean initiatives. Defining and meticulously tracking KPIs to accurately measure the success and impact of both projects and Lean initiatives is also a key responsibility. You will utilize data-driven insights to inform strategic decision-making and to guide the development of future improvement efforts. Additionally, you will partner closely with the HR Technology team on system implementations and other key initiatives, ensuring that technology solutions effectively meet business needs and actively support Lean process improvements.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to Sumitomo Pharma's commitment to operational excellence and innovation. You will gain invaluable experience in leading strategic projects within a global pharmaceutical context, honing your skills in Lean and Agile methodologies, stakeholder management, and driving organizational change. The position provides a platform to make a real impact on business performance and to shape the future of how the company operates, fostering a culture where continuous improvement is not just a goal, but a way of working. You will have the chance to develop your leadership and coaching abilities by mentoring teams and educating colleagues on best practices in process improvement.
