  • • As a Human Resources Business Partner (Manager) at Sumitomo Pharma America, Inc., you will serve as a strategic advisor to business leaders, aligning talent initiatives with organizational goals in oncology, urology, women’s health, rare diseases, cell & gene therapies, and CNS therapeutic areas. Your role is critical in enabling the company’s mission to accelerate the delivery of novel therapies by ensuring the right people, capabilities, and culture are in place to support innovation and growth.
  • • You will build trusted relationships with functional leaders and people managers to understand business strategies, anticipate talent needs, and drive HR solutions that enhance organizational effectiveness, leadership quality, and workforce agility across assigned business units or functions.
  • • Day-to-day responsibilities include partnering with leaders to identify and close performance gaps through organizational redesign, process improvements, coaching, and training; analyzing workforce trends to forecast future labor needs and support proactive workforce planning and succession management.
  • • You will collaborate with Talent Management to design and implement development programs for high-potential employees, strengthen leadership bench strength, and ensure succession planning is robust and aligned with business continuity goals.
  • • Acting as a liaison between business units, HR operations, and Centers of Excellence (COEs), you will ensure HR services are tailored, responsive, and aligned with internal client needs while facilitating the exchange of HR best practices across the HRBP team to drive consistency and continuous improvement.
  • • You will partner with Total Rewards and Employee Relations to align performance management and reward systems with desired behaviors, proactively address employee relations concerns, and coach leaders to improve engagement, communication, retention, and team dynamics.
  • • Supporting change management initiatives, you will help foster a culture of excellence by guiding leaders through transitions, reinforcing collaboration and innovation, and ensuring people strategies enable business transformation.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in HR management, business administration, or a related field
  • • 4+ years of progressive HR experience supporting executives or business leaders
  • • 3+ years of specific experience in the biotech, life sciences, or pharmaceutical industry
  • • Proven experience applying HR programs in talent management, employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning
  • • Strong ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends and make data-driven recommendations
  • • Demonstrated skill in building partnerships, influencing stakeholders, and navigating ambiguity in fast-paced environments
