- • As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at Brave Health PA, you will play a vital role in expanding access to compassionate, high-quality mental health care for underserved populations, particularly those relying on Medicaid, by delivering evidence-based psychiatric services remotely across state lines.
- • You will conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnose mental health and substance use disorders, develop individualized treatment plans, prescribe and manage psychotropic medications—including controlled substances—and provide psychotherapy to adults and adolescents (13+) with general mental health needs and severe mental illness (SMI), all while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and state regulations.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include collaborating with an interdisciplinary clinical team to evaluate and adjust treatment plans, monitoring patient responses to medication and therapy, educating patients and families about diagnoses and treatment options, de-escalating crises when necessary, and ensuring timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) using telehealth platforms.
- • You will work within a mission-driven, community health-focused organization that values equity, innovation, and clinician well-being, offering a structured Monday–Friday schedule with no on-call or weekend obligations, allowing for predictable work-life balance while serving a diverse patient population.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in addiction and dual-diagnosis care, strengthen your proficiency in telehealth and motivational interviewing techniques, and grow as a clinician through annual education stipends, peer collaboration, and exposure to complex cases across the lifespan—all while contributing to Brave Health’s mission of closing the mental health care access gap.
🎯 Requirements
- • Current Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) license in both New York and Illinois
- • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner in mental health or addiction treatment settings
- • Proven experience working with adults and adolescents (13+) requiring treatment for general mental health conditions and/or severe mental illness (SMI)
- • Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnose psychiatric and substance use disorders, and develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans
- • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and comfort using telehealth technology for video-based patient encounters
- • Active DEA registration (required for clinicians holding New York or Florida licenses; strongly preferred for Illinois-based practice involving controlled substances)
