Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at Brave Health PA, you will play a critical role in expanding access to compassionate, high-quality mental health care for underserved populations, particularly those relying on Medicaid, by delivering evidence-based psychiatric services through a innovative telehealth platform that breaks down geographic and systemic barriers to care.
  • • You will conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnose mental health and substance use disorders across the lifespan (ages 13+), develop individualized treatment plans, prescribe and manage psychotropic medications—including controlled substances—and provide individual psychotherapy, all while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure holistic, patient-centered care in a fully remote setting serving Florida residents.
  • • Brave Health is a mission-driven, community health-centered organization dedicated to closing the mental health care gap for Medicaid recipients, with a strong commitment to equity, innovation, and clinical excellence; you will join a supportive, collaborative team of clinicians and supervisors who prioritize both patient outcomes and provider well-being in a culture that values diversity, continuous learning, and ethical practice.
  • • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in treating severe mental illness (SMI) and co-occurring disorders, refine your skills in motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care, gain proficiency in telehealth-specific clinical workflows and EHR documentation, and have access to an annual education stipend to pursue certifications or training that align with your professional growth goals.
  • • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting 75% of your time on treatment planning and implementation—such as prescribing medications, monitoring side effects, providing psychotherapy, and educating patients and families—15% on compliance and documentation in the EHR while adhering to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and 10% on patient assessment and diagnosis, including ordering labs or EKGs when clinically indicated, all within a structured Monday–Friday schedule with no weekend or on-call obligations.
  • • You will be expected to maintain timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record, use evidence-based references, consult with clinical leadership as needed, and demonstrate cultural humility and adaptability when working with diverse patient populations, including those with complex trauma, addiction, or serious mental illness.
  • • The role requires comfort with video-based telehealth technology, strong communication skills for de-escalation and motivational interviewing, and the ability to work independently while remaining integrated into a supportive clinical team that values peer consultation and shared decision-making.
  • • You will have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on reducing mental health disparities in Florida by serving patients who might otherwise go untreated due to provider shortages, insurance barriers, or geographic isolation, all while contributing to a growing organization that values clinician autonomy, work-life balance, and professional development.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Current Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) license with active eligibility to practice in Florida
  • • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner working with adults and adolescents (ages 13+) in general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) settings
  • • Proven experience in addiction and mental health dual diagnosis, including assessment, treatment planning, and medication management for co-occurring disorders
  • • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms, including comfort with video-based clinical encounters and digital documentation
  • • Active DEA registration (required for Florida license holders) and eligibility to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive salary range of $125,000–$135,000 annually as a W2, full-time salaried position with predictable Monday–Friday hours (9am–6pm, 10am–7pm, or 11am–8pm ET) and no on-call or weekend shifts
  • • Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus paid vacation, holiday, and sick time
  • • Annual stipend for professional growth and education opportunities, liability insurance coverage, and additional compensation for Spanish-speaking providers
  • • Close collaboration with a supportive peer and supervisory team in a mission-driven culture that values diversity, equity, and clinician well-being
