📋 Description

• As a Senior Engineering Manager at Innocraft (Matomo), you will be at the forefront of leading and scaling high-performance engineering teams within a dynamic and highly competitive technology landscape. This role is designed for a leader who thrives on driving momentum, fostering clarity, and translating ambitious strategies into measurable, impactful results at an accelerated pace. You will play a pivotal role in scaling a credible, enterprise-grade ethical alternative to dominant surveillance-led platforms, demonstrating that privacy-first, open-source technology can achieve market leadership through exceptional execution.
• You will be responsible for leading globally distributed, culturally diverse engineering teams, cultivating an environment where high performance is not just expected, but is the established norm. This involves setting clear, unambiguous standards, actively and fairly managing individual and team performance, and instilling a strong sense of accountability for delivery, quality, and operational maturity across all projects.
• A critical aspect of this role is accelerating the speed to impact. Success will be measured by your ability to consistently shorten the cycle time from initial idea conception through to execution and ultimately, to delivering tangible customer value. This requires a proactive approach to evolving engineering workflows and practices.
• You will champion the adoption of modern delivery practices and cutting-edge tooling, including AI-assisted development, to significantly increase engineering throughput, enhance product quality, and amplify the effectiveness of your experienced engineering talent. This involves challenging outdated methodologies and introducing superior alternatives, ensuring teams can adapt rapidly without compromising the reliability, security, or trustworthiness of our platform.
• This is not a position for passive leadership or complacency with the status quo. We are seeking an individual who excels at building elite teams, competes fiercely while upholding strong ethical principles, and holds themselves and their team to an exceptionally high standard of excellence. • You will drive complex, multi-stream initiatives from the initial strategic planning phase all the way through to successful execution, ensuring clear ownership and defined outcomes for each project. This requires a strategic mindset coupled with meticulous attention to detail in project management and delivery.
• Strengthening the scalability, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency of our infrastructure will be a key focus. You will oversee initiatives aimed at enhancing our platform's backbone to support continued growth and meet the demands of our global user base.
• Leading the step-wise modernization of our platform, including its user interface, APIs, and the overall developer experience, will be a significant part of your mandate. This ensures we remain at the cutting edge of technology and provide a seamless experience for both our users and our development teams.
• Establishing robust delivery discipline, rigorous operational standards, and clear lines of accountability are paramount. You will implement processes that ensure consistent quality and predictable delivery cycles.
• Embedding enterprise-grade security, privacy-by-design principles, and comprehensive DevSecOps practices throughout the development lifecycle is non-negotiable. You will ensure that security and privacy are integral to every stage of product development.
• You will actively drive the adoption of modern engineering practices, including leveraging AI-assisted coding where it can demonstrably improve speed and quality, ensuring our teams are equipped with the most effective tools and methodologies.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience leading and scaling high-performing software engineering teams, ideally in a fast-paced, competitive technology environment.
• Demonstrated ability to drive complex, multi-stream initiatives from strategy through execution, with a strong focus on measurable outcomes and delivery excellence.
• Deep understanding of modern software development practices, infrastructure scalability, reliability, performance optimization, and DevSecOps principles.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of actively managing performance, setting clear expectations, and fostering accountability within engineering teams.
• Experience with open-source technologies and a passion for privacy-first solutions is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and collaborate with globally distributed, culturally diverse teams.
