- • Build and operate backend systems that serve AI-powered insurance workflows in production, including quotations, policy issuance, endorsements, claims, and customer follow-ups.
- • Design and implement AI orchestration layers that connect large language models (LLMs), APIs, business logic, and automated workflows.
- • Develop inference pipelines for LLM-based and AI-assisted automation systems to handle real-time decisioning across insurance processes.
- • Optimize latency, throughput, and cost of AI services through caching, batching, streaming, and intelligent routing mechanisms.
- • Define and maintain stable service boundaries between backend systems, machine learning components, and product-facing APIs.
- • Implement comprehensive observability including logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and incident response workflows for AI-driven systems.
- • Debug and resolve production issues across distributed AI systems, identifying root causes in complex, multi-service environments.
- • Collaborate with frontend, product, operations, and machine learning teams to deliver end-to-end features from design to deployment.
- • Continuously improve system reliability, scalability, and performance based on real-world usage patterns and feedback.
- • Ensure AI workflows are stable, observable, and production-ready across multiple products and international markets.
- • Maintain high availability and low latency for AI services serving millions of users across Southeast Asia and beyond.
- • Work within a globally distributed engineering team across multiple time zones, coordinating asynchronously and synchronously to ship high-quality systems.
- • Own systems end-to-end—from initial design and implementation to production monitoring, iteration, and operational maintenance.
- • Apply modern engineering practices focused on scalability, reliability, and operational discipline in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- • Use Python and Node.js to develop and maintain core backend services supporting AI workflows.
- • Integrate with LLM APIs including OpenAI, Anthropic, and open-source models to power automated insurance decisioning.
- • Deploy and manage services using Docker and Kubernetes in a distributed systems environment.
- • Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to store and retrieve structured and unstructured data for AI inference and workflow state.
- • Leverage observability stacks (logging, metrics, tracing) to monitor system health and proactively detect anomalies.
- • Contribute to a culture of high ownership, where engineers are accountable for system behavior in production and incident resolution.
- • Participate in an interview process consisting of 3–4 virtual or onsite interviews evaluated by technical team members.
- • Engage in a remote-first work model with full flexibility to work from anywhere globally while collaborating with international teams.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong backend engineering experience in production systems
- • Experience building or operating high-throughput, low-latency services
- • Familiarity with AI systems (LLMs, embeddings, or AI workflows)
- • Experience with distributed systems and production debugging
- • Strong understanding of APIs, data flows, and system design principles
- • Experience with observability tools (logging, monitoring, tracing)
