- • Manage a caseload of litigated workers’ compensation claims under the supervision of a managing attorney, ensuring timely and high-quality resolution of cases.
- • Provide litigation services for all aspects of assigned workers’ compensation matters, including legal strategy development, case preparation, and court representation.
- • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on complex workers’ compensation issues to support case outcomes and legal positioning.
- • Draft and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, contracts, memoranda, and other court submissions in compliance with California procedural rules.
- • Ensure timely filing of all court documents and administrative filings with state boards and courts to meet statutory deadlines.
- • Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy, client counseling, and litigation planning for high-complexity claims.
- • Assist in preparing for hearings, trials, and depositions, including organizing evidence, coordinating witnesses, and drafting examination outlines.
- • Provide clear, timely legal advice and factual guidance to internal clients, including claims professionals and business partners.
- • Maintain direct communication with clients and represent ICW Group in court proceedings, depositions, and settlement conferences as assigned.
- • Build and sustain professional relationships with external stakeholders, including opposing counsel, administrative bodies, and clients, using a customer-centric approach.
- • Stay current with evolving workers’ compensation laws, regulations, and judicial decisions in California to ensure legal compliance and strategic advantage.
- • Adhere strictly to the California Rules of Professional Conduct and all ICW Group internal policies and procedures.
- • Supervise and direct the work of support staff, including paralegals and legal assistants, by assigning tasks, reviewing documents, and approving legal outputs.
- • Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, and PowerPoint for document preparation, case tracking, and communication; learn proprietary case management systems as needed.
- • Demonstrate strong time management skills to balance multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and delegate responsibilities effectively within the legal team.
- • Travel to various court locations and business sites as required to attend hearings, depositions, or client meetings.
- • Operate in a fully remote home office environment while maintaining professional standards and consistent availability for legal obligations.
🎯 Requirements
- • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- • Active and in-good-standing license with the State Bar of California
- • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
- • Prior experience as a law clerk in workers’ compensation, underwriting, litigation, or related legal environment
- • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe software
- • Basic understanding of California workers’ compensation administrative rules, laws, and statutes
