- • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with insurance agencies and producers to grow a profitable book of business in Eastern Tennessee.
- • Sell, service, and retain a network of producers by monitoring their production quality and ensuring alignment with company underwriting guidelines and profitability targets.
- • Drive the sale of existing and newly developed insurance products by identifying market opportunities and tailoring offerings to producer and client needs.
- • Prospect, evaluate, and appoint new producers based on their potential to deliver quality business, setting clear production expectations and providing ongoing support.
- • Conduct thorough underwriting evaluations of simple to slightly complex risks, analyzing operations, financials, management, employee history, and prior loss experience against industry benchmarks.
- • Apply approved underwriting authority to price policies accurately, balancing exposure with loss frequency and severity to ensure profitability within company guidelines.
- • Maintain current knowledge of industry developments including WCIRB/NCCI rulings, policy forms, endorsements, and regulatory changes affecting workers’ compensation and other lines of business.
- • Perform marketing research to identify growth opportunities in geographic markets, competitor activity, economic trends, and demographic shifts within the assigned territory.
- • Support producers through regular in-person visitations to their offices, providing underwriting guidance, product training, and assistance with policy submissions and claims.
- • Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and promptly to agents and insureds, resolving concerns and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
- • Present Agency Management solutions to both producer principals and internal ICW management teams to strengthen partnerships and align business goals.
- • Serve as the primary company representative to existing and prospective producers, acting as the key point of contact for all business-related inquiries and negotiations.
- • Utilize company technology to maintain consistent communication with clients and track business performance metrics across the territory.
- • Travel up to 50% of the time to meet with producers, attend industry events, and develop new business opportunities, primarily by automobile with occasional air travel.
- • Operate primarily from a home office environment with the ability to work 20-30% of the time remotely, using standard office equipment including computer, telephone, and copier.
- • Read and interpret complex insurance documents including submission packets, loss control reports, and standard policy forms to make informed underwriting decisions.
- • Develop deep familiarity with the geographic, economic, and competitive landscape of Eastern Tennessee to effectively target and acquire high-quality business.
- • Maintain compliance with company underwriting standards while adapting strategies to local market conditions and producer capabilities.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Statistics, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- • Minimum 1 year of related experience and/or training in underwriting or business development
- • Current driver’s license required
- • Demonstrated ability to service clients and maintain strong relationships with production sources
- • Ability to apply fundamental underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures
- • Ability to read and interpret insurance submissions, loss control reports, and policy forms
