📋 Description
- • Own the full monthly and annual financial close process with the goal of achieving a best-in-class close timeline
- • Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements for board reporting, investor communications, and internal decision-making
- • Manage intercompany transactions and consolidation across U.S., U.K., and Canadian entities, ensuring accurate elimination of intercompany balances
- • Implement and maintain revenue recognition policies under ASC 606 for a mixed business model involving hardware sales and recurring software subscriptions
- • Manage cost of goods sold (COGS) accounting for hardware products, including inventory valuation, bill of materials (BOM) costing, and depreciation scheduling
- • Evaluate, select, and implement a modern ERP system alongside supporting finance tools for billing, accounts payable automation, and expense management
- • Design and automate workflows to streamline month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- • Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with U.S. federal and state tax regulations, U.K. tax laws, Canadian tax requirements, and transfer pricing rules
- • Manage reporting obligations related to debt facilities, including tracking draws, monitoring covenant compliance, and calculating interest expenses
- • Establish and maintain internal financial controls aligned with the company’s growth stage and scaling needs
- • Prepare and coordinate documentation for external audits to ensure audit readiness at all times
- • Produce comprehensive month-end close packages that include detailed budget versus actual commentary and variance analysis
- • Serve as the primary finance lead for a company of 30–150 employees, acting as the sole or main accounting function with minimal oversight
- • Build scalable financial systems and processes from the ground up to support rapid growth and international expansion
- • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure financial data integrity across operations, engineering, sales, and customer success
- • Support financial due diligence activities related to future fundraising rounds, including data room preparation and investor Q&A
- • Maintain accurate and transparent financial records to support corporate governance and regulatory obligations
🎯 Requirements
- • 6–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including 2+ years at a venture-backed startup
- • Experience as the sole or primary finance person at a company of 30–150 employees
- • Strong technical accounting skills: revenue recognition (ASC 606), inventory and hardware accounting, multi-entity consolidation, intercompany eliminations
- • International accounting experience (U.S. + at least one non-U.S. jurisdiction)
- • Ability to independently produce investor-grade financial statements and board packages
- • Experience implementing or migrating ERP systems
- • CPA certification
