- • As a Data Annotation Specialist for Japanese language tasks, you will play a critical role in improving the performance of Cohere’s large language models by labeling, ranking, auditing, and correcting text and multimodal data, directly contributing to the safety, accuracy, and usefulness of AI systems used by developers and enterprises worldwide.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities include labeling and ranking machine learning data with advanced Japanese proficiency, auditing and correcting inaccuracies in text, image, JSON, TSV/CSV, or Markdown formats, completing reading and text-based assignments with high attention to detail, evaluating preference-based tasks to select Japanese responses that best conform to guidelines, recommending optimizations for data quality and model performance, providing feedback to cross-functional teams on Japanese language matters, and executing all tasks with meticulous, detail-oriented precision.
- • You will join a global team of researchers, engineers, and designers at Cohere, a company dedicated to scaling intelligence to serve humanity through frontier AI models, where diverse perspectives are valued and high-impact work is driven by a shared mission to make AI safely accessible to all.
- • In this role, you will develop deep expertise in AI data annotation, strengthen your analytical and linguistic precision, gain hands-on experience with structured data formats (JSON, CSV, etc.), and contribute meaningfully to the iterative improvement of cutting-edge language models — all while working remotely within Canada on a flexible, part-time independent contractor basis.
🎯 Requirements
- • Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese and excellent command over English
- • Expert reading and writing skills in Japanese, demonstrated via a written test
- • Basic familiarity with JSON, TSV, CSV, or Markdown data manipulation
- • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- • High tolerance for repetitive and monotonous work
- • Ability to follow complex instructions, navigate ambiguity, and work independently
- • Superb sense of urgency and time management
- • Curiosity about technology and a knack for solving problems creatively
- • A reliable laptop (BYOD requirement)
