- • Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineering, architectural, and construction professionals in delivering a $150M–$200M capital plan for USAA, overseeing mission-critical, technically complex projects exceeding $70M in value, including renovation, infrastructure, real estate expansion, and facility construction across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, building control systems, and interior design disciplines.
- • Direct internal and third-party teams to design, develop, manage, and implement projects on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards, ensuring alignment with enterprise project objectives, preparing executive updates on cost, timeline, and risk, and serving as the owner’s decision authority on project options presented by managed service project managers.
- • Oversee building engineering studies, facility condition assessments, and regulatory agency interactions; create policies and procedures for progress tracking and planning tools; coordinate with strategy, planning, and operations teams for seamless project lifecycle transitions; manage relocation services including moves, warehousing, and minor construction efforts for enterprise initiatives.
- • Provide technical leadership, oversight, and guidance on complex problems, consultant agreements, and engineered systems; partner with procurement to review legal contracts; deliver training for staff performance and professional growth; ensure risks are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled per USAA’s risk and compliance policies.
- • Foster open communication, collaboration, and adaptability within a fast-paced corporate environment; develop and manage talent; engage and inspire teams; analyze issues and make data-driven decisions; innovate processes and influence stakeholders to achieve project and organizational goals.
- • Contribute to USAA’s mission of empowering the military community through financial security by delivering high-quality, timely, and cost-effective facilities that support member service and organizational resilience; grow as a strategic leader in engineering, design, and construction services within a values-driven organization rooted in honesty, integrity, loyalty, and service.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical), Architecture, Building Construction Management, or a related field; OR 4 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
- • 8+ years of experience in building construction management, facility engineering, workplace renovation, engineered infrastructure projects, architectural design, or general contractor contract agreements, or project management.
- • 3+ years of direct team lead or management experience.
- • 4+ years of experience developing and managing third-party consultant, design, or general contractor contract agreements.
- • Subject-matter-expert level knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and project management processes.
- • Demonstrated ability to develop and communicate complex information effectively to senior leadership.
