- • Lead the data engineering and analytics engineering functions at Amplify Education, a pioneer in K–12 education serving over 15 million students across the U.S., by driving technical vision and strategic alignment to empower data-informed decision-making across product, AI, and engineering teams.
- • Own and execute the development of scalable data platforms, ELT pipelines, data models, and MLOps infrastructure while championing the adoption of agentic AI tools like Claude Code and Snowflake Cortex to enhance development and analytics workflows.
- • Partner with VP of Data and peer directors to shape multi-year strategy, oversee delivery of annual OKRs, and ensure reliable, high-quality data solutions that support critical analytics challenges and business objectives.
- • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team of engineering managers and engineers, fostering technical excellence, career growth, and a strong leadership bench within the data department.
- • Manage vendor relationships, evaluate build vs. buy decisions, optimize cloud infrastructure costs, and ensure data observability and reliability using tools like Monte Carlo, dbt tests, and Great Expectations.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent experience
- • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or related fields with hands-on expertise in modern data stack technologies (dbt, Snowflake, SQL, Python, Terraform)
- • 5+ years of people management experience, including 3+ years managing managers
- • Proven ability to develop multi-year strategy and facilitate goal-setting processes (e.g., annual OKRs) across multiple teams
- • Experience with ETL/ELT pipeline design, data modeling, data platform architecture, and BI tools (Looker, Tableau)
- • Experience with data observability and reliability tools (Monte Carlo, dbt tests, Great Expectations)
- • Familiarity with agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Snowflake Cortex) and AI-assisted development workflows
- • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with non-technical partners
