- • As Director of Engineering at Matia, Inc., you will lead and scale the R&D team while actively contributing to codebases and ensuring high-quality delivery of the unified DataOps platform, playing a critical role in shaping engineering culture and driving technical excellence.
- • You will provide deep technical leadership by participating in coding, architectural design, and complex problem-solving; lead and mentor engineering teams; drive ownership and accountability; solve complex technical and organizational challenges; collaborate cross-functionally with Product and other teams; optimize engineering processes; and reduce leadership load by taking on key initiatives.
- • Matia is at the forefront of the DataOps revolution, building a unified platform that streamlines data management from end-to-end with seamless ETL, reverse ETL, observability, and data cataloging, empowering data teams at companies like Ramp, Honeybook, and Lemonade, and backed by leading investors as one of Israel’s Top 50 Most Promising Startups in 2026.
- • You will have the opportunity to shape an innovative product and high-impact engineering culture, lead by technical example, grow and mentor a high-performing team, and drive scalable solutions that align with product vision and business goals while reporting directly to the CTO.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years in software development with at least 3-5 years in an engineering leadership role (e.g., Director, Senior Manager, or Group Lead managing a team)
- • Proven exceptional proficiency in core technologies like TypeScript, Node.js, React, Python and deep understanding of high-performance SQL/NoSQL database design and K8S
- • Experience working with message queue technologies (e.g., Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ) to build scalable and reliable data pipelines
- • Proven experience having scaled or built R&D teams in startup environments
- • Comfortable with ambiguity, quick execution, and high accountability in both leadership and coding capacities
- • Demonstrates strong ownership and leadership without needing external structure, both in managing teams and driving technical solutions through code
