📋 Description

• The Forward Deployed Engineer role at OpenAI bridges cutting-edge AI research and real-world customer impact by leading end-to-end deployments of frontier models in production environments alongside strategic clients.
• Day to day, you will own technical delivery from prototype to production, build full-stack systems, embed with customer teams to understand needs, scope and sequence work, make trade-offs between speed and quality, contribute code when needed, codify best practices into reusable tools, and share field feedback to influence product and model roadmaps.
• You will join OpenAI’s Forward Deployed Engineering team, which operates at the intersection of customer delivery and core platform development, partnering closely with Product, Research, Partnerships, GRC, Security, and GTM teams to turn breakthroughs into production systems.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in deploying AI systems at scale, sharpen your ability to navigate ambiguity, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and directly influence how OpenAI’s models evolve based on real-world feedback and production adoption.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience with customer-facing work
• Experience scoping and delivering complex systems in fast-moving or ambiguous environments
• Ability to write and review production-grade code across frontend and backend using Python, JavaScript, or comparable stacks
