- • This internship focuses on applying behavioral science and visual analytics to financial crime detection, specifically exploring whether visual representations like z-glyphs can improve the speed and accuracy of identifying money laundering patterns compared to traditional text-based analysis.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting a literature review on Gestalt principles and preattentive attributes in visual analytics, designing and running A/B tests comparing text-based and visual case assessments, analyzing decision time and error rates, and iterating on glyph prototypes with the financial crime monitoring team for real-world dashboard integration.
- • You will join Mollie’s Financial Crime Monitoring team in Milan, a group dedicated to combating financial crime through innovative methods, working alongside investigators, engineers, and data scientists in a mission-driven environment focused on real-world impact.
- • You will gain hands-on experience in experimental design, statistical analysis (using SPSS, R, or Python), UX/UI considerations for high-stakes decision interfaces, and translating cognitive science research into practical financial crime detection tools, while building expertise in anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) domains.
🎯 Requirements
- • Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Data Visualization, or a similar field
- • Experience with experimental design and statistical tools such as SPSS, R, or Python
- • Fascinated by human information processing and motivated to apply it to financial crime detection
- • Basic understanding of UX/UI principles is a strong plus
- • Available to work from Milan or Amsterdam
