📋 Description

• Lead Software Engineer - Back End role at Agoda, responsible for architecting and developing mission-critical systems that power the global travel platform serving millions of daily user requests.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include designing scalable microservices, leading cross-team technical initiatives, providing hands-on technical leadership to 40+ engineers, driving observability and reliability improvements, mentoring engineers, and influencing technical roadmaps across the organization.
• Agoda’s Back End Engineering team builds fault-tolerant systems and APIs covering inventory, pricing, customer data, payments, and more, using Scala, Go, Kafka, and Aerospike, with a culture of innovation, agility, and technical excellence.
• In this role, you will gain deep expertise in large-scale distributed systems, architectural decision-making at scale, and engineering leadership, while contributing to systems that enable global travel experiences for millions of users.

🎯 Requirements

• At least 10+ years’ experience developing performance-critical applications in production using Scala, Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, or C#
• Proven track record leading projects, initiatives, and teams with full end-to-end ownership of complex backend systems
• Strong expertise in data platforms and databases such as SQL, Cassandra, Hadoop, or equivalent, with ability to make informed trade-offs
• Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and system design fundamentals with demonstrated strong coding ability
• Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders
