- • The Maintenance Engineer, Automation, Body in White at Lucid Motors is responsible for maintaining and optimizing automated systems and equipment within the BIW (Body in White) lines to ensure high equipment availability, performance, and minimal production downtime. This role is critical to sustaining efficient, high-quality manufacturing of Lucid’s luxury electric vehicles by ensuring automation systems operate reliably and safely.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include performing preventive and corrective maintenance on PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and robotic arms; troubleshooting automation issues; modifying and optimizing PLC programs and robotic routines; supporting installation and commissioning of new automated equipment; maintaining documentation (wiring diagrams, program backups, change logs); collaborating with production and engineering teams on continuous improvement; ensuring safety compliance; conducting root cause analysis; training maintenance technicians; identifying spare part requirements; and staying current with control system trends. The engineer also architects, writes, and debugs structured, maintainable PLC ladder logic that interfaces with conveyors, robots, MES, LabView, machine vision, and third-party equipment while enforcing Lucid Motors standards and managing external integrators.
