- • As Product and Regulatory Counsel at Koho Financial Inc., you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of financial services in Canada by enabling innovative product development while ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards across both Koho Tech and Koho Bank.
- • You will partner with Product, Marketing, Risk, and Compliance teams to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice that supports growth, protects customers, and maintains trust in Koho’s mission to financially empower Canadians through transparent, fair, and accessible financial products.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include advising on the design and launch of new financial products and features, identifying regulatory risks early, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to build compliant, scalable solutions that align with Koho’s AI-integrated, lean, and impact-driven culture.
- • You will support the operationalization of Koho Bank by assisting in engagements with key regulators such as OSFI, FCAC, and the Bank of Canada, helping navigate complex licensing and compliance requirements as the company scales as a regulated financial institution.
- • You will guide marketing and growth teams to ensure campaigns comply with financial services and consumer protection regulations, while also advising customer-facing teams on complaints handling, fair treatment, and communication best practices to uphold Koho’s commitment to equity and transparency.
- • You will help design and implement scalable legal and regulatory processes that support long-term growth, embedding compliance into product lifecycles without stifling innovation, and fostering a builder mindset across the organization.
- • Working in a remote-first, high-trust environment, you will enjoy autonomy and flexibility to manage your workload while contributing to a mission-driven team that values clarity, ownership, and bold thinking over bureaucracy.

🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years of post-call experience as a lawyer practicing in Canada, with background in-house or at a law firm
- • Deep expertise in financial services regulation, banking law, or consumer protection frameworks
- • Strong judgment and ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to support innovation and compliance
- • Comfort working cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, CX, Risk, and Compliance teams in fast-moving environments
- • High ownership mindset with initiative-taking, solution-focused approach, and builder mentality
- • Proactive, highly organized work habits with adaptability to high-ambiguity situations
- • Strong work ethic, reliability, and honest, responsive, collaborative professional style
