Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • Zip is revolutionizing the enterprise procurement landscape, a market exceeding $120 trillion annually and notoriously complex. We've built a purpose-built procurement platform that simplifies this process with a consumer-grade user experience, creating a new category and establishing ourselves as the leading solution in this $50 billion+ TAM space. Within just four years, Zip has become indispensable to world-leading companies like OpenAI, Snowflake, Anthropic, Coinbase, and Prudential, enabling them to manage billions of dollars in spend effectively.
  • We are seeking a highly strategic and analytical Product Marketing Manager to spearhead the development and execution of Zip's competitive intelligence strategy and market intelligence program. This pivotal role requires an individual with a profound passion for market research, exceptional analytical acumen, and the ability to translate complex competitive insights into clear, actionable strategies that drive market leadership.
  • As a key strategic partner, you will operate at the intersection of go-to-market (GTM), product, and executive leadership. Your primary responsibility will be to build and scale Zip's competitive intelligence function from the ground up, establishing frameworks and processes where none currently exist. You will be instrumental in equipping our teams with the knowledge and tools necessary to win in a dynamic and competitive market.
  • Your day-to-day will involve deep dives into market trends, competitor offerings, and emerging threats. You will meticulously monitor and analyze competitor messaging, pricing strategies, partnership ecosystems, and GTM approaches to identify critical opportunities for sharpening Zip's market positioning and informing our future strategic direction. This proactive analysis will be the bedrock of our competitive advantage.
  • A significant part of your role will be the creation and maintenance of essential competitive intelligence materials. This includes developing robust battlecards, comprehensive competitive briefs, and effective objection-handling guides. These resources will empower our sales and customer-facing teams, providing them with the precise insights and talking points needed to confidently navigate competitive conversations and secure deals.
  • Beyond content creation, you will be a vital educator. You will design and deliver ongoing training and enablement sessions for our sales, customer success, and other relevant teams. These sessions will ensure a deep, shared understanding of Zip's unique competitive advantages and how to effectively articulate them to prospects and customers.
  • Collaboration is key. You will work closely with product managers, providing them with critical competitive insights that directly influence roadmap decisions, feature prioritization, and the development of compelling differentiation strategies. Your input will help shape the future of Zip's product offering.
  • You will also partner closely with the broader marketing team and our analyst relations function. Your insights will be crucial in ensuring Zip is consistently and effectively represented in thought leadership content, industry reports, and analyst briefings, reinforcing our market leadership narrative.
  • The ability to synthesize complex, often disparate, data into clear, concise, and actionable insights is paramount. These insights will directly inform our GTM strategy, shape marketing campaigns, and define effective sales plays, ensuring our efforts are strategically aligned and impactful.
  • Staying ahead of the curve is non-negotiable. You will continuously monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovations within the procurement technology space to ensure Zip not only maintains but extends its clear leadership position in intake and procurement orchestration.
  • This role requires a proactive, self-starter mentality. You will thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, comfortable operating without a pre-defined playbook, and adept at distilling complex information into compelling narratives. Your strategic thinking and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders will be critical to your success and the success of Zip.
  • We are looking for someone who can embrace ambiguity, drive initiatives forward independently, and build strong, collaborative relationships across the organization. Your contributions will directly impact Zip's market strategy, product development, and overall growth trajectory, making this a highly visible and impactful position.
  • This is an opportunity to build a foundational function within a rapidly growing, category-defining company. You will have the autonomy to shape the competitive intelligence program and make a significant impact on Zip's future success. We are looking for a builder, a strategist, and a storyteller who is passionate about winning in the market.
  • The role is based in our downtown San Francisco office, requiring a hybrid work arrangement of three days per week in the office, fostering collaboration and team synergy.

🎯 Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in product marketing, competitive intelligence, market research, or a closely related field, with a proven ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in extracting actionable insights from complex data, articulating findings clearly, and influencing stakeholders on strategic proposals and recommendations.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple complex projects simultaneously while consistently meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Foundational product marketing expertise, including messaging & positioning, GTM strategy development, audience segmentation, sales enablement, content creation, and market research methodologies.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with sales, product management, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills, encompassing written, verbal, and visual mediums, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.

🏖️ Benefits

  • Startup equity: Opportunity to own a piece of a rapidly growing, category-defining company.
  • Full health, vision & dental coverage: Comprehensive medical benefits to support your well-being.
  • Catered lunches & dinners for SF employees: Enjoy delicious meals provided in the office.

  • Flexible PTO: Generous paid time off to recharge and maintain work-life balance.
  • Apple equipment plus home office budget: Provided with top-tier technology and resources for your workspace.
