📋 Description
- • As a Propulsion Engineer – Level 3 on Northrop Grumman’s Sentinel program, you will play a critical role in advancing national security by analyzing, integrating, and testing solid rocket motors that power strategic launch vehicles, directly contributing to mission success and technological innovation in defense systems.
- • You will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure propulsion designs meet rigorous performance, safety, and reliability standards, translating complex technical requirements into actionable engineering solutions that support milestone-driven program delivery.
- • The Energetics Engineering team within Northrop Grumman’s Mechanical and Energetics Department is a high-impact unit dedicated to pushing the boundaries of propulsion technology, where your expertise will help sustain the company’s legacy of pioneering advancements from historic milestones to next-generation strategic systems.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include analyzing and integrating solid rocket motor designs, conducting tests to validate performance, and interfacing with internal and external stakeholders — including suppliers, program management, and customers — to ensure technical alignment and timely issue resolution.
- • You will provide technical leadership throughout the design, analysis, testing, and integration lifecycle, applying engineering methodologies to evaluate design changes, lead root cause and failure investigations, and recommend optimal solutions based on technical, cost, and schedule trade-offs.
- • A key aspect of your role will be developing and presenting technical materials for design reviews and project briefings, clearly communicating complex propulsion concepts to diverse audiences, including senior leadership and external partners.
- • You will actively identify opportunities to improve existing processes, propose innovative design modifications, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, reliability, and performance across propulsion systems.
- • By working within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, you will manage multiple concurrent priorities, support troubleshooting efforts, and ensure tasks are completed to meet aggressive program schedules while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.
- • This role offers the opportunity to deepen your expertise in solid rocket propulsion systems, gain hands-on experience with configuration change management and failure investigation methodologies, and grow into a trusted technical advisor within one of the nation’s most respected defense engineering organizations.
- • You will contribute directly to the Sentinel program — a cornerstone of U.S. strategic deterrence — allowing you to see the tangible impact of your work on national security and long-term technological advancement.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of related experience; OR a PhD in STEM with 1 year of related experience.
- • Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. DoD Secret Security clearance (or higher), with U.S. citizenship required.
- • Proven ability to work effectively in team environments, manage multiple concurrent projects, and communicate technical information clearly through strong written and verbal presentation skills.
- • Experience in the design, analysis, testing, or manufacturing of solid rocket motors is strongly preferred.
- • Familiarity with configuration change management, failure investigation methodologies, and developing trade studies for presentation to senior management.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive base salary range of $103,600.00 to $155,400.00, with eligibility for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses based on performance and role.
- • Comprehensive benefits package including health, life, and disability insurance, retirement savings plans, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal use.
- • Relocation assistance may be available to support your transition to the Chandler, Arizona work location.
- • Opportunity to work on high-impact, mission-critical defense programs like Sentinel, contributing to national security and technological innovation.
