- ā¢ The Senior Analyst, Fundraising Data & Analytics (Contract) role at the Wikimedia Foundation is a pivotal position supporting data-driven decision-making for global fundraising campaigns across nearly 40 countries and 20 languages, directly contributing to the mission of empowering people to create and share the sum of all human knowledge through free access to Wikipedia and related projects.
- ā¢ This one-year, full-time (40 hours/week) remote contract role sits within a small, collaborative analytics team that partners closely with fundraising, finance, and technology teams to improve fundraising effectiveness while upholding values of openness, transparency, and user privacy.
- ā¢ Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering insights and analysis on global fundraising campaigns and strategic objectives to fundraising teams; developing and tracking key performance indicators across diverse fundraising channels; partnering with fundraising and finance colleagues on multi-year revenue forecasting; delivering reporting, statistical analysis, and guidance on iterative A/B testing programs; modeling data upstream using dbt for cleaning and transformation; and peer reviewing teammatesā work to ensure data quality and interpretability.
- ā¢ Additional work examples include building and maintaining donor propensity models to drive revenue, creating donor segments in audience-building tools like Hightouch, and developing models to personalize ask amounts for individual donors based on behavioral and demographic data.
- ā¢ The analytics team operates in two-week sprints with regular backlog reviews, sprint planning, mid-sprint check-ins, and retrospectives, having recently migrated to a modern analytics stack featuring dbt, Metabase, Jupyter notebooks, MinIO storage, Apache Iceberg table format, and Trino as the query engine, with code reviews transitioning from Gerrit to GitLab.
- ā¢ The role requires close collaboration with an analytics engineer, two fellow analysts, a Senior Manager of Fundraising Data & Analytics, and a data engineer from the adjacent fundraising technology team, fostering a culture of shared learning, code quality, and iterative improvement.
- ā¢ You will gain deep expertise in nonprofit fundraising analytics, advanced data modeling in a cloud-native lakehouse environment, and the application of statistical methods to real-world experimentation in a mission-driven context, while enhancing your ability to communicate complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders across global teams.

šÆ Requirements
- ā¢ Highly proficient in SQL for data modeling and analytical queries, with experience troubleshooting complex pipelines and identifying root causes of data anomalies.
- ā¢ Skilled in developing clear data visualizations using business intelligence platforms (e.g., Metabase) and practical statistical expertise for designing experiments and drawing valid conclusions from A/B test results.
- ā¢ Comfortable working with Python for advanced analysis and experienced in using predictive modeling (e.g., donor propensity, ask amount personalization) to answer business questions in fundraising or marketing contexts.
- ā¢ Proven ability to give and receive code reviews via Git (GitLab, Gerrit, or similar), document work clearly for teammates and stakeholders, estimate work accurately, surface blockers early, and seek support when needed.
- ā¢ Demonstrated experience in fundraising analytics, preferably within a large, international fundraising program, and familiarity with analyzing digital marketing campaigns.
