📋 Description

• Own complex product areas end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to deployment and iterative improvements, with minimal supervision in a high-traffic, monetized D2C environment.
• Drive technical direction independently without waiting for detailed specs or tickets; proactively identify technical risks, propose better solutions, and push back on unrealistic scope or timelines.
• Ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of critical systems handling hundreds of thousands of global users and substantial monthly revenue.
• Lead and participate in code reviews to elevate engineering standards across the team and enforce high bar for code quality, maintainability, and readability.
• Mentor mid-level engineers, helping them grow technically and professionally through guidance, feedback, and example.
• Actively contribute to hiring, onboarding, and integrating new engineers into the team and engineering culture.
• Design, implement, and improve CI/CD pipelines and development workflows to accelerate deployment cycles and reduce manual toil.
• Monitor, debug, and improve production system stability using observability tools and proactive alerting strategies.
• Collaborate directly with Product and leadership teams to provide engineering input, translate business goals into technical plans, and align on feasibility and trade-offs.
• Build and maintain full-stack web applications using React and Next.js App Router in production for at least two years, with deep proficiency in TypeScript and modern frontend architecture.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases including schema design, query optimization, indexing, and data modeling for high-concurrency use cases.
• Implement caching strategies using Redis or equivalent technologies to improve application performance and reduce backend load.
• Work within cloud-based environments (AWS, Cloudflare preferred), managing infrastructure, deployments, and environment configurations.
• Integrate and manage A/B testing frameworks and leverage analytics to inform product decisions and measure feature impact.
• Operate in a fast-paced environment where shipping occurs in days, not weeks, balancing speed with long-term system maintainability.
• Embrace ambiguity and thrive under pressure, taking ownership of outcomes rather than just assigned tasks.
• Contribute to shaping engineering culture, best practices, and team norms as Ruby Labs scales its engineering organization.
• Work within a remote-first team operating in the CET timezone (±4 hours), ensuring real-time collaboration and effective communication.
• Engage in open technical discourse, defend architectural decisions with data and logic, and continuously raise the technical bar for the team.
• Take responsibility for the entire lifecycle of features — from vague requirements through to production success and post-launch iteration.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on, production experience building and maintaining full-stack web applications
• Strong, practical experience with React and Next.js, including at least 2 years working with the Next.js App Router in production
• Deep understanding of TypeScript and modern frontend architecture patterns
• Proven ability to own features end-to-end — from vague requirements to production-ready implementation
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL, including query optimization, schema design, and data modeling
• High bar for code quality, maintainability, and readability
