ABOUT THE ROLE As the Senior Product Manager, AI Risk & Merchant Onboarding, you will shape the first and most important interactions that businesses have with Airwallex. You will own the strategy for creating a fast, intelligent and trusted onboarding experience—one that helps legitimate merchants get started quickly while identifying and responding to fraud and other risks proactively. You’ll help build an AI-native risk system that can understand a merchant’s business, open new sources of insight and make smarter decisions in real time. Your work will sit at the intersection of onboarding, fraud prevention, payments, artificial intelligence and merchant experience. You will also help optimise payment-method recommendations by balancing risk, cost, payment conversion and the overall experience for merchants and their customers. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Own the product strategy and roadmap for merchant onboarding, risk decisioning and related merchant experiences. - Map and optimise the end-to-end journey from discovery and sign-up through verification, activation and product adoption. - Build AI-powered capabilities that can interpret merchant business context, surface relevant signals and detect emerging risk patterns earlier. - Partner with Engineering, Data Science and Risk teams to develop AI agents that identify compromised accounts, illegal or prohibited selling activity and other suspicious behaviour. - Turn AI-generated insights into real-time actions through fraud and risk models, including intelligent step-ups, reviews, restrictions or approvals where appropriate. - Design risk experiences that proactively protect Airwallex and its customers while minimising unnecessary friction for legitimate merchants. - Develop intelligent payment-method recommendations that balance fraud risk, processing cost, payment conversion rate and merchant experience. - Use data, analytics and customer research to identify onboarding and payment pain points, define success metrics and prioritise opportunities. - Design and run experiments, including A/B tests, to improve onboarding UX, verification outcomes, activation and conversion. - Establish clear feedback loops between product performance, model outcomes, operational review and merchant experience. - Communicate product strategy, trade-offs and results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE - More legitimate merchants complete onboarding quickly and confidently. - Risk signals are identified earlier, with faster and more accurate real-time responses. - Fraud and abuse are reduced without introducing unnecessary friction or avoidable false positives. - Payment-method recommendations improve the balance between risk, cost, conversion and merchant experience. - Product decisions are increasingly informed by high-quality data, experimentation and AI-powered insight. WHO YOU ARE We’re looking for a product leader who is excited by the opportunity to use AI to solve complex problems in risk and payments. You combine strong product judgement with analytical depth, customer empathy and the ability to lead cross-functional teams through ambiguity. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - 5+ years of product management experience, with a track record of taking products from ideation through delivery and continuous optimisation. - Experience owning product strategy, roadmap planning, product discovery and execution for customer-facing or platform products. - Strong understanding of experimentation, analytics, user journeys and outcome-based product development. - Experience working closely with Engineering, Data Science, Design, Risk, Compliance or Operations teams. - Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical, data or risk concepts into simple product experiences and clear decisions. - Exceptional communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences. - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience in onboarding, fraud prevention, KYC/KYB, transaction monitoring, account security, payments or financial crime risk. - Experience building or scaling AI/ML-powered products, decisioning systems, recommendation engines or agentic workflows. - Understanding of how to use AI to discover merchant context, detect behavioural anomalies and support real-time risk decisions. - Experience balancing risk, operational cost, payment conversion and customer experience in a financial product. - Familiarity with payment-method optimisation, routing, authorisation or payment performance metrics. - Experience in a high-growth technology company or global product environment. - Technical fluency or experience partnering with software engineers, machine-learning engineers or data scientists. - Experience working with products serving merchants across multiple markets and regulatory environments.
