Senior Software Engineer (Ruby/RoR, Chatbots & AI)

📋 Description

• • Build and maintain complex Ruby on Rails services within Workato’s enterprise-grade platform, focusing on the Workbot product line for Slack and Microsoft Teams.
• • Develop interactive, AI-powered chatbots used by enterprise customers including Slack itself, integrating with real-time communication platforms.
• • Continuously research and track evolving ecosystems of Slack and Microsoft Teams APIs, staying ahead of platform changes and feature updates.
• • Contribute across all phases of the software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and post-launch support.
• • Write clean, well-documented, testable, and efficient code that adheres to enterprise-scale standards for performance and reliability.
• • Evaluate existing system architecture and propose technical improvements, including new tools, patterns, or infrastructure upgrades.
• • Investigate emerging technologies and alternatives, presenting findings to engineering teams for architectural review and decision-making.
• • Collaborate with distributed global teams across multiple time zones to deliver high-quality features and resolve critical production issues.
• • Ensure seamless user experiences by applying deep understanding of conversational UI/UX principles in bot design and interaction flows.
• • Maintain enterprise-grade security and compliance standards while developing and deploying automation workflows integrated with critical business applications.
• • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and retrospectives to foster a culture of continuous improvement and collective ownership.
• • Work within a remote-first environment that emphasizes trust, autonomy, and accountability in delivering technical outcomes.
• • Support the operationalization of AI-driven automation by integrating machine learning models and intelligent workflows into the Workato platform.
• • Maintain deep familiarity with backend systems that handle high-volume, real-time orchestration of data and applications across cloud environments.
• • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with product, design, and customer success teams to align technical development with customer needs and business goals.
• • Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and onboarding of new engineers to sustain team scalability and technical excellence.
