  • • As a Sr. Automation Engineer, Powertrain at Lucid Motors, you will ensure new and existing control systems meet throughput, safety, and quality requirements for production while designing and developing continuous improvement projects aligned with company needs.
  • • You will work with layout engineering to optimize Powertrain line layouts, develop control standards and specifications for internal and external teams, and create data management and tracking network architectures for product, process, and quality traceability.
  • • You will architect, write, and debug PLC ladder logic with emphasis on organized, structured, and maintainable code that interacts with conveyors, robots, MES, LabView, machine vision, and third-party equipment, while implementing ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA-compliant safety systems for safeguarding automated equipment.
  • • You will train maintenance and production teams to support automated equipment post-deployment, create machine interactions with plant-wide MES for product acceptability and process variables, and debug and optimize automated processes to maximize cycle time, availability, and yield.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s Degree in Controls Systems Engineering, Electrical and Controls Engineering, or Automation and Control Engineering with at least 5 years of professional experience
  • • 5+ years of experience in an Automation Engineering role, with automotive industry experience preferred
  • • Proficiency with process integration and electromechanical/mechatronic systems, including in-depth knowledge of ANSI/RIA15.06 and OSHA safety standards
  • • Advanced proficiency programming industrial equipment, including PLCs and Safety PLCs (Allen Bradley and/or Siemens), HMIs (Ignition, FactoryTalk Optix, Siemens WinCC), field bus networks (Ethernet IP, PROFINET, Safety-rated), and serial/Ethernet communications
  • • Demonstrated excellence in PLC programming with a defined methodology for code structure, ability to program state machines for multi-station parallel processes, and proven skill in designing fault-tolerant systems with error handling and recovery
