đź“‹ Description
- • As the VP of Engineering at Cape Privacy, Inc., you will serve as the head builder and technical leader responsible for scaling an elite engineering organization that is redefining privacy and security in cellular networks. This role is critical to executing the company’s mission of creating a force for good in global wireless by ensuring engineering excellence, innovation, and alignment with business strategy in the wake of a successful Series C fundraise.
- • You will lead, grow, and motivate a high-performing engineering team unlike any in the telecommunications space—comprised of exceptional talent from defense, intelligence, and top-tier tech backgrounds—by developing leaders, establishing clear goals and operating rhythms, and fostering an environment where engineers can do the best work of their careers while maintaining hands-on technical involvement.
- • You will act as the company’s technical face in senior-level engagements with government customers and the C-Suite of security-forward enterprises, translating business and technical strategy into an executable engineering roadmap and ensuring the team is resourced, structured, and focused to deliver against it.
- • Day to day, you will: attract and retain top engineering talent by building a culture of ownership, accountability, and growth; drive highest-quality delivery through clear planning, realistic but aggressive timelines, and strong execution across product, business development, and engineering; ensure strong cross-functional partnership with Product, Design, Security, and Operations by communicating technical tradeoffs clearly to leadership and stakeholders; establish engineering discipline through thoughtful code review, long-term maintainability, and a focus on reliability, performance, sustainability, and security; and collaborate with the CEO to develop and execute company strategy while advocating for the engineering team’s needs and perspective.
- • The engineering team at Cape is composed of relentless builders with deep roots in defense tech and the intelligence community, united by a shared belief that personal privacy and national security can be reconciled through strong technology. You will join a culture that hires excellent people, gives them outsized responsibility, and trusts them to execute at a high level, where solving hard problems is the norm and building things that matter is the priority.
- • In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape one of the most AI-native telecom companies in the world, leave a lasting impact on how secure and private cellular connections are engineered, and grow into a transformative technical leader who not only manages but actively contributes to cutting-edge systems in privacy, security, and resilience for mobile networks.
🎯 Requirements
- • 9+ years of engineering experience, including at least one stint at a startup or growth-stage technology company
- • Impeccable technical chops with a proven ability to architect, build, and scale complex systems
- • 3+ years of people leadership experience, including hiring, promoting, performance management, and mentoring at least one direct report to become a successful technical lead
- • Genuine excitement about privacy and defense use cases, with understanding of how they intersect in secure mobile communications
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with technical teams, executive leadership, government customers, and enterprise stakeholders
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive geo-adjusted salary with meaningful equity participation to share in the value you help create
- • 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision premiums for employees and their dependents
- • 401(k) matching contribution to support long-term financial wellness
- • 12 weeks of paid parental leave for all parents, with no waiting period
- • Stipends for family-forming needs and gender-affirming care, plus unlimited PTO to support work-life balance and personal well-being
