• • As a Product Security Architect at Motiv Inc., you will play a pivotal role in shaping the security posture of our innovative platform, which empowers businesses to manage their physical operations with unparalleled efficiency and safety. You will be an integral part of the Security Engineering team, serving as the primary security partner for our dynamic Product and Engineering departments. Your core mission will be to embed security into the very fabric of our product development lifecycle, focusing on proactive measures such as rigorous design reviews, comprehensive threat modeling, and the development of scalable, secure-by-default components. This is a highly strategic and technical position for an architect passionate about scaling security through influence, robust programs, and engineering excellence, with a keen focus on design, automation, and enablement.
• • You will be instrumental in leading critical security design reviews and threat modeling exercises for new products and features, ensuring potential vulnerabilities are identified and mitigated early in the development process. This involves close collaboration with Product Managers and Engineering teams to meticulously define security requirements and architect robust solutions that align with both business objectives and security best practices.
• • A significant aspect of your role will involve designing, developing, and championing secure-by-default libraries, services, and frameworks. These foundational components will empower our engineers to ship secure code rapidly, effectively eliminating entire classes of common vulnerabilities and reducing the overall security burden on individual teams. Your expertise will guide the adoption of these secure building blocks across the organization.
• • You will take the lead in developing and executing a Security Champions program. This initiative aims to cultivate security expertise within our product engineering teams, fostering a culture of shared responsibility for security. By embedding security knowledge and best practices directly into these teams, you will significantly enhance our ability to scale security efforts efficiently.
• • Providing expert guidance on a wide range of architectural patterns is crucial. This includes advising on secure cloud architectures, containerization strategies, API security best practices, robust identity and access management solutions, and secure data handling (both in transit and at rest). Your insights will ensure that security is an intrinsic part of our architecture, not an afterthought.
• • You will be responsible for reviewing a substantial volume of features being shipped each quarter, approximately hundreds. This requires a strategic approach to identifying high-risk areas and prioritizing your engagement to maximize impact. Your ability to efficiently assess and guide multiple teams will be key to driving measurable security outcomes.
• • A core objective is to drive measurable security outcomes by scaling your engagement with development and engineering teams, all while maintaining a lean and effective security team. This involves creating leverage through automation, reusable patterns, and enablement programs.
• • You will own and drive best practices in key security domains, including API security, modern authentication and authorization patterns, and the secure handling of data in transit and at rest. Your deep understanding of these areas will be critical in establishing and enforcing high security standards.
• • Contributing to comprehensive documentation, developing practical playbooks, and creating reusable security patterns will be essential for disseminating knowledge and ensuring consistency across the engineering organization. This knowledge sharing will be vital for long-term security scalability.
