• In this critical role, the AI Developer will be instrumental in driving innovation and elevating HBP's product offerings by strategically applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies. Your work will directly contribute to enhancing the value delivery, interactivity, and overall user experience of our diverse product portfolio across various engagement modes.
• A core aspect of this position involves actively supporting our product teams in the rapid development of prototypes. This hands-on approach will enable us to rigorously test and learn about novel product experiences, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of technological advancement. You will be a key technical resource, equipping product leads with the knowledge, tools, and foundational AI/ML capabilities necessary to explore and pursue ambitious new AI-enabled product concepts.
• Collaboration is central to our success. You will facilitate seamless cross-functional partnerships, ensuring that HBP effectively leverages its core ML and AI infrastructure across the organization. This includes working closely with product management, data engineering, production software engineering, and external technical partners at both HBP and Harvard Business School (HBS).
• Your responsibilities will encompass supporting product teams in the creation of new AI-enabled features. You will contribute significantly to the technical vision for our products and actively participate as a hands-on technical resource throughout the product development lifecycle. Your focus will be on harnessing the power of data and AI to engineer innovative, cutting-edge solutions that redefine management education and practice.
• You will work in close partnership with HBP product teams to rapidly develop and iterate on prototypes. This agile methodology ensures that AI and ML capabilities are seamlessly integrated into new product ideas, allowing us to test hypotheses and gather insights more efficiently over time through the strategic reuse of shared AI capabilities.
• A key function of this role is to facilitate technical interoperability. You will serve as a crucial bridge, connecting HBP's product management, data engineering, production software engineering teams, and partner technical teams at HBP and HBS. Your efforts will extend and leverage our core ML and AI infrastructure throughout all development stages, from initial prototyping to full-scale production deployment.
• You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the essential ML and AI infrastructure that underpins our product-facing applications. In consultation with our partner technical teams, you will build and manage the infrastructure required for applications such as LLM chat interfaces, robust vector stores for Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), predictive ML workflows with automated triggers, and comprehensive MLOps tools, all within our AWS and Snowflake environments.
• Your contributions will also extend to data engineering. You will collaborate closely with the Data Engineering team to ensure the quality and integrity of user, content, and market data. This involves building and maintaining data pipelines and product-facing APIs for HBP's central data warehouse, specifically supporting the products you are assigned to.
• Furthermore, you will support data science and analytics initiatives. You will contribute to the design and execution of data science and analytics projects that are directly relevant to the products you support. This includes inferring causal factors driving user intent, predicting user attributes, uncovering insights from user activity to inform editorial and marketing strategies, and projecting potential revenue streams.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data science, ML/AI development, or a closely related field, with a proven track record of delivering production-grade AI/ML solutions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and departments.
• Hands-on experience with developing, deploying, and maintaining ML infrastructure, including model training, evaluation, and production-ready APIs. Familiarity with MLOps tools and concepts (e.g., MLFlow, AWS SageMaker, model registries, CI/CD).
• Excellence in Python programming and experience with relevant data science and AI/ML packages (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, LangChain).
• Practical experience with cloud services such as AWS (preferred), Azure, or Google Cloud for deploying and managing AI/ML workflows and containerization tools like Docker.
• 3+ years of experience developing products with, and guardrails for, LLMs (strongly preferred).
