Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Be the first-ever AI Enablement Engineer at ButterflyMX and embed artificial intelligence into the DNA of our software development lifecycle. You will architect the internal infrastructure that lets 100+ engineers ship AI-powered features faster, safer, and with measurable impact on a platform already trusted by 20,000+ properties worldwide.
- • Own the end-to-end design, build, and evolution of an internal LLM gateway that routes requests, enforces rate limits, and provides seamless fallbacks across OpenAI, Anthropic, and future providers. This gateway will become the single source of truth for every AI call made by our micro-services, mobile apps, and edge devices.
- • Create reusable SDKs, libraries, and CLI tools that abstract away the complexity of prompt engineering, vector search, and function calling. Your code will be imported daily by product squads who want to add semantic search to resident directories, auto-generate visitor passes, or summarize access logs—without becoming AI experts.
- • Establish a living prompt-management system complete with versioning, A/B testing, and regression suites. You will define how prompts are stored, reviewed, and rolled back, ensuring that a one-line change never breaks production experiences for millions of end-users.
- • Design and operate scalable vector-database infrastructure (Pinecone, Weaviate, or managed alternatives) that supports sub-second semantic retrieval across tens of millions of access events, package deliveries, and visitor records. You will tune embedding models, shard indexes, and craft caching layers to keep latency and cost predictable.
- • Instrument everything. Build real-time dashboards that track token usage, cost per feature, latency percentiles, and hallucination rates. These metrics will guide executive decisions on model selection, budget allocation, and roadmap prioritization.
- • Curate an internal AI knowledge base: technical runbooks, prompt-cookbooks, brown-bag recordings, and self-paced labs. You will coach teams through their first RAG implementation, review pull requests for prompt-injection risks, and run quarterly hackathons that surface new AI use-cases.
- • Evaluate bleeding-edge models, frameworks, and services—then distill the signal from the noise. You will run bake-offs, publish internal tech-notes, and create migration guides so teams can adopt GPT-4.5, Claude 3.5, or Gemini Ultra with minimal friction.
- • Champion responsible AI practices. Implement guardrails for PII detection, bias monitoring, and tenant-data residency. Partner with Legal and Security to ensure every AI feature meets SOC 2, GDPR, and multifamily-industry compliance standards.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, DevOps, and Customer Success to turn AI prototypes into revenue-generating features. Your work will directly influence product roadmaps and help property managers reduce operating costs while delighting residents.
- • Shape hiring and onboarding for the next wave of AI-fluent engineers. You will define interview loops, craft take-home challenges, and mentor junior developers who want to grow into AI specialists.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years of software engineering with a proven focus on platform, infrastructure, or internal tooling
- • Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) and orchestration frameworks such as OpenAI Agents SDK, LangChain, or Google ADK
- • Production-grade proficiency in Python or TypeScript, including async patterns and packaging for internal distribution
- • Deep familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, PGVector) and embedding models (OpenAI text-embedding-3, Sentence Transformers)
- • Demonstrated success building internal SDKs, CLIs, or services that other engineers adopt without micromanagement
- • Strong grasp of cloud-native patterns on AWS or GCP, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CDK)
🏖️ Benefits
- • Comprehensive medical (90% company-paid), dental, and vision (100% company-paid) from day one
- • 401(k) with immediate match, 13 paid holidays, and 25 days PTO
- • 16 weeks paid family leave and quarterly self-care stipends
- • Employee Assistance Program, HealthAdvocacy, and pre-tax FSA/HSA options
- • Optional supplemental insurance: life, AD&D, pet, legal, critical illness, and more
