📋 Description

• As an AI/ML Engineer at Deel, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s mission to unlock global opportunity by building intelligent systems that power payroll, compliance, and HR solutions for distributed teams across 150+ countries. Your work will directly impact how businesses hire, pay, and manage talent at scale, contributing to Deel’s vision of a more inclusive and equitable global workforce.
• You will develop and maintain AI and machine learning algorithms using Python, focusing on NLP, information retrieval, and text processing to enhance product capabilities such as automated compliance checks, intelligent document processing, and predictive analytics for workforce planning.
• You will design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest, transform, and load data from diverse sources—including HRIS systems, payroll feeds, and global compliance databases—ensuring high-quality, timely data feeds for model training and inference.
• You will collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, data engineers, and business stakeholders throughout the full software development lifecycle—from discovery and prototyping to deployment and monitoring—to translate business needs into robust, production-ready ML solutions.
• You will write clean, efficient, and well-tested code using best practices in software engineering, leveraging tools like Jupyter Notebooks and Google Colab for experimentation, while ensuring models are deployed reliably on cloud platforms with proper versioning, logging, and observability.
• You will conduct ongoing research into emerging AI/ML techniques—including LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, and fine-tuning strategies—and evaluate their applicability to Deel’s use cases, driving innovation through proof-of-concepts and iterative improvements.
• You will troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues across the ML lifecycle, ensuring system reliability and performance under high-volume, real-world conditions, while maintaining rigorous standards for code quality through peer reviews and automated testing.
• You will create and maintain comprehensive documentation for models, pipelines, and APIs, enabling knowledge sharing across teams and supporting onboarding, audits, and cross-functional alignment.
• You will actively contribute to Deel’s engineering culture by participating in code reviews, mentoring peers, and advocating for best practices in ML engineering, helping to elevate the team’s technical excellence and collaboration.

🎯 Requirements

• High proficiency in Python, PostgreSQL, and the full data science stack (including libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and SQLAlchemy)
• 5+ years of professional experience in back-end engineering in production environments, with a proven track record of building and maintaining scalable, reliable systems
• 2+ years of hands-on experience implementing machine learning algorithms and research concepts in Python, specifically in NLP, information retrieval, and text processing domains
• Demonstrated experience delivering AI/ML solutions that are integrated into live products, not just experimental prototypes
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively across diverse, global teams
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM or Computer Science-related field
