Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • Own the architecture and ongoing health of BrainCo’s Nx-based monorepo, including project graph management, dependency boundaries, and language toolchains (pnpm, uv, Go) to ensure scalability across dozens of engineering teams.
  • Design and operate CI/CD systems with strong guarantees for correctness, reproducibility, and speed, including caching, parallelism, secret flow, and release engineering for regulated and air-gapped customer deployments.
  • Build and maintain internal CLIs, scaffolding tools, local development stacks (Tilt, Docker, Kubernetes), and code-quality infrastructure (lint, typecheck, format, pre-commit hooks) to standardize and accelerate developer workflows.
  • Treat developer tooling as production systems by establishing SLOs, observability, and on-call responsibility for build, CI, and dev infrastructure — treating internal downtime as critical system failure.
  • Identify, instrument, and resolve developer friction points from first principles, moving from vague complaints like "X is slow" to measurable, shipped improvements with clear before/after impact metrics.
  • Partner closely with every engineering team to drive adoption of developer platforms through quality and user-centric design, not top-down mandates.
  • End-to-end own developer-facing systems: from architecture and implementation to rollout, iteration based on internal feedback, and long-term maintainability.
  • Ensure build and test systems remain fast, reliable, and incremental at scale as the monorepo spans Python, TypeScript, and Go and supports production deployments in highly regulated environments.
  • Design and maintain paved paths for development workflows that engineers actively choose to use, avoiding guardrails that are bypassed or ignored.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure on the underlying cloud, Kubernetes, networking, and runtime substrate while owning the developer-facing experience for deployment and environment setup.
  • Apply production-grade reliability practices to internal tooling, including incident response, alerting, and root cause analysis for build and CI failures affecting engineering velocity.
  • Measure developer productivity using DORA/SPACE-like metrics or equivalent internal benchmarks to quantify the impact of platform improvements on shipping speed and system stability.
  • Maintain and evolve artifact management, release pipelines, and build caching systems that support multi-tenant, air-gapped, and regulated customer environments.
  • Contribute to or lead migrations between polyrepo and monorepo architectures at scale, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum developer adoption.
  • Build or enhance internal PaaS, dev environment generators, or scaffolding tools that reduce onboarding time and standardize project setup across teams.
  • Support frontend platform needs including shared component libraries, design tokens, Storybook integration, visual regression testing, a11y, and performance budgets across applications.
  • Engage with open-source ecosystems by contributing to Nx plugins, GitHub Actions, or related developer tooling to stay aligned with industry best practices.
  • Maintain supply-chain security practices including SLSA, Sigstore, or equivalent artifact verification standards in build and deployment pipelines.
