📋 Description

• Plumerai is at the forefront of enabling developers to seamlessly integrate highly accurate Artificial Intelligence into their embedded devices, empowering them to create groundbreaking new products. Our innovative approach combines on-device Tiny AI software with advanced cloud-based multimodal Large Language Models (LLMs). This powerful synergy delivers sophisticated features such as People Detection, Video Search, Familiar Face Identification, and AI Captions, transforming the capabilities of embedded systems.
• As an AI Research Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development of state-of-the-art AI products. Your responsibilities will span a wide spectrum, from refining our cutting-edge training algorithms and integrating multimodal LLMs to architecting new model designs and building robust data pipelines. You will also leverage established Machine Learning methodologies and devise ingenious algorithms to tackle complex challenges. Ultimately, you will contribute directly to the creation of new AI features that will be deployed on millions of camera devices globally, solidifying Plumerai's position as a leader in advanced AI for embedded devices.
• A significant aspect of your role will involve the strategic combination of our Tiny AI capabilities with multimodal LLMs. This integration is key to unlocking new functionalities for our customers and optimizing their deployments across both cloud and edge environments. You will be instrumental in enhancing these LLMs to achieve novel outcomes and ensure peak performance.
• You will be tasked with training and designing more accurate deep learning models, with a particular focus on efficiency. Some of our existing computer vision models boast an incredibly small memory footprint, as little as 1MB. Your work will enable new, more complex AI applications to run effectively on low-cost, low-power hardware, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in embedded AI.
• Your contributions will extend to the enhancement of our data pipeline, model architectures, and training software. While existing literature will serve as a foundation, you will frequently be required to develop novel approaches and implement clever solutions to overcome the unique challenges inherent in our work.
• You will utilize our robust infrastructure, including a Kubernetes cluster for deploying PyTorch and TensorFlow training jobs. Data management will involve Snowflake and Dataflow for dataset construction, while tools like Streamlit will be employed for rapid prototyping of new demonstrations. Extensive GPU resources on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) will be leveraged for training new models and automating data labeling processes.
• The team at Plumerai is comprised of individuals with a deep theoretical understanding across all layers of the AI stack, from data collection and curation to custom training software, model architectures, multimodal LLMs, pre- and post-processing, and highly optimized inference engines. 🎯 Requirements

• +5 years of professional software engineering experience with proficiency in Python.
• Comfortable with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, or JAX.
• Strong experience with computer vision and multimodal LLMs.
• Trained neural networks that moved into production.
• Industry experience with efficient inference deployments (cloud or edge) (Nice to Have).
• Experience with Deep Reinforcement Learning (Nice to Have).
