📋 Description

• Join G2i Inc. as an AI Software Engineer specializing in Code Evaluation & Training, a pivotal remote role focused on shaping the future of AI-generated code. In this position, you will leverage your deep understanding of software engineering principles, particularly in Java, to refine and enhance large language models (LLMs) capable of producing production-grade code across a diverse spectrum of programming languages. Your expertise will be instrumental in guiding these AI models to not only generate code but to do so with the correctness, efficiency, and stylistic elegance that seasoned engineers expect.
• Your primary responsibility will involve a sophisticated process of code comparison and ranking. You will meticulously evaluate multiple code snippets generated by AI, discerning the most effective and well-structured solutions. Crucially, you will articulate the rationale behind your judgments, providing clear, concise explanations that highlight the strengths and weaknesses of each option. This analytical process is fundamental to the AI's learning curve, enabling it to understand the nuances of high-quality code.
• Beyond evaluation, you will actively participate in the repair and refactoring of AI-generated code. This entails identifying and rectifying errors in logic, optimizing for performance bottlenecks, and ensuring adherence to established coding standards and best practices. Your ability to transform imperfect code into robust, efficient, and maintainable solutions will directly contribute to the AI's ability to learn and replicate superior coding practices.
• A significant aspect of this role is the injection of your expert feedback into the Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) pipeline. This involves providing precise ratings, making necessary edits, and interpreting test results. Your insights will be translated into reward signals that guide the AI's learning process, effectively teaching it to propose, critique, and improve code in a manner analogous to how experienced human developers operate.
• The RLHF process, in essence, involves a cycle: the AI generates code, expert engineers like yourself rank, edit, and justify their choices, this feedback is converted into reward signals, and reinforcement learning then tunes the model to produce code that is ready for deployment. Your role is at the heart of this iterative improvement cycle, ensuring the AI's output aligns with real-world development standards.

• The role is structured as a 1099 independent contractor engagement, providing flexibility in terms of hours, with a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week and the potential for up to 40 hours. Compensation is competitive, ranging from $30 to $70 per hour, dependent on your location and level of seniority.
