- • As a Senior Product Designer on the ActionKit team at NGP VAN, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience of a platform used by over 150 progressive organizations to mobilize tens of millions of supporters for critical causes including democracy, racial justice, climate action, and reproductive freedom. Your work will directly empower advocacy groups, labor unions, and political campaigns to drive real-world change through intuitive, accessible, and impactful digital tools.
- • You will own the end-to-end design of major product workflows and UI redesigns, leading usability testing, user research, and design system evolution while collaborating closely with engineers and stakeholders to ensure designs are not only visually compelling but also feasible, scalable, and aligned with user needs and technical constraints.
- • You will join a small, tightly knit, fully remote design and engineering team that has operated with autonomy and collaboration for over a decade, where your expertise will be trusted to influence high-level product strategy and advocate for user-centered decisions that support mission-driven organizations in high-stakes moments.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in UX strategy, accessibility (WCAG), design systems, and cross-functional leadership, while building a portfolio of impactful work that advances progressive causes and strengthens democratic engagement through thoughtful, inclusive design.
- • You will lead and contribute to significant UI redesign initiatives, produce brand and marketing assets for product launches, and continuously measure and iterate on design impact through user feedback and usability testing, ensuring that ActionKit remains a powerful, intuitive, and equitable tool for changemakers across the country.
- • You will participate in cross-functional discussions to balance product strategy, user needs, and technical feasibility, advocating for accessibility and inclusive design practices that uphold WCAG standards and support diverse users, including those with disabilities, in their advocacy work.
🎯 Requirements
- • Advanced proficiency in modern design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
- • Strong UX and interaction design expertise, including complex workflow and information architecture design
- • Experience planning and running user interviews and usability tests
- • Ability to balance visual polish with usability, clarity, and performance
- • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and tradeoffs clearly
- • Experience leading design for SaaS products
- • 7+ years of professional product, UI, or UX design experience
- • Demonstrated success delivering end-to-end workflows and leading significant redesign efforts
- • A strong portfolio showcasing thoughtful UI/UX work and systems thinking
- • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and experience implementing accessible design patterns
- • Brand and cross-channel design experience
- • Experience working with nonprofits or political organizations
