- • As an Android Framework Engineer at Flock Safety, you will work on the core system services and hardware abstractions that power AI-driven cameras used in public safety, contributing directly to crime reduction and community protection through embedded Android OS development.
- • Day to day, you will design versioned AIDL/HIDL interfaces, develop testable service implementations in Rust/C++, optimize power and performance, debug custom Android hardware, and contribute to OTA updates and system reliability for headless, custom AOSP-based devices.
- • You will join a high-performance Engineering team focused on building scalable, privacy-conscious safety technology, working alongside experts in embedded systems, AI, and hardware to deliver impact at scale in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in Android framework internals, AOSP customization, hardware-software integration, and embedded Linux systems, while gaining end-to-end ownership of critical device OS components that operate autonomously in the field for years.
🎯 Requirements
- • Experience designing versioned service interfaces via AIDL/HIDL to expose device functionality to headless Kotlin apps via a custom SDK
- • Developed testable service implementations in Rust/C++
- • Strong Kotlin/Java development experience including coroutines, OS threading, memory management, unit testing, and performance profiling
- • Knowledge of the Android build system and API design best practices between kernel and apps
- • Experience with AOSP development including shell scripting, init.rc, SE Policy, OTA updates, tombstone/bugreport analysis, and debugging custom Android hardware
- • Skilled in JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Gerrit, Git/GitHub for collaboration and workflow
