Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Join Latitude Inc. as an Ansible Engineer, a pivotal role where you will architect, build, and maintain cutting-edge automation solutions critical to the success of U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) programs. This hybrid remote position, based in Columbia, MD, offers a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in Ansible to enhance security, scalability, and compliance across complex enterprise environments operating on both classified and unclassified networks.
  • • As an Ansible Engineer, you will be at the forefront of modernizing infrastructure management. Your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and implement robust Ansible playbooks and roles that automate the provisioning, configuration, and management of diverse IT infrastructure. This includes servers, network devices, and cloud resources, ensuring consistency, reliability, and adherence to stringent security protocols.
  • • You will play a crucial role in establishing and enforcing configuration standards across all managed systems. This involves creating and maintaining detailed documentation for automation workflows, playbooks, and best practices, ensuring that all solutions are auditable and meet the specific compliance requirements of DoD programs.
  • • A significant aspect of this role involves collaborating closely with system administrators, security engineers, and development teams to integrate automation into the entire software development lifecycle. You will champion DevSecOps principles, embedding security practices directly into the automation pipelines to proactively identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • • Your expertise will be essential in troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure and configuration issues. This requires a deep understanding of system interdependencies and the ability to rapidly diagnose and implement automated fixes to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.
  • • You will be instrumental in evaluating and recommending new tools and technologies that can enhance our automation capabilities. This includes staying abreast of the latest advancements in infrastructure as code, configuration management, and cloud-native technologies, and assessing their applicability to our DoD environment.
  • • The role demands a proactive approach to security. You will be responsible for ensuring that all automation scripts and configurations adhere to DoD security mandates, such as DISA STIGs, and other relevant cybersecurity frameworks. This includes implementing automated security checks and remediation steps within your playbooks.
  • • You will contribute to the continuous improvement of our infrastructure automation strategy. This involves analyzing performance metrics, identifying areas for optimization, and implementing enhancements to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and lower operational costs.
  • • This position requires a strong understanding of various operating systems, including Linux and Windows Server, and the ability to automate tasks across these platforms effectively. You will also work with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware) and potentially cloud platforms (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) where applicable.
  • • You will be expected to develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for your automation code, ensuring that changes are tested, validated, and deployed in a controlled and repeatable manner. This includes integrating Ansible with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar platforms.
  • • The ability to work effectively in a hybrid remote setting is key. While offering flexibility, this role requires strong communication and collaboration skills to ensure seamless teamwork with colleagues across different locations and time zones.
  • • Ultimately, your work will directly impact the security posture, operational efficiency, and mission readiness of critical DoD programs. You will be a key enabler of faster, more secure, and more reliable deployments, contributing significantly to national security objectives.
  • • This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical skills in a challenging and rewarding environment, working on projects that have a tangible impact. If you are passionate about automation, security, and making a difference, we encourage you to apply.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Proven experience designing, developing, and implementing complex Ansible automation solutions, including writing custom modules, roles, and playbooks.
  • • Strong understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) principles and best practices.
  • • Familiarity with DevSecOps methodologies and their application in regulated environments.
  • • Experience working with U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security requirements, compliance frameworks (e.g., DISA STIGs), and secure network environments.
  • • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
  • • Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (e.g., Secret or Top Secret).
