• • As an Applied AI Engineer at Fundamental, you will play a pivotal role in the development and optimization of our cutting-edge, large neural network-based tabular model, primarily implemented in Python. Your responsibilities will extend to meticulously profiling and optimizing both training and inference pipelines, with a keen eye for identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks. A significant aspect of this role involves enhancing efficiency by rewriting critical components in C++, leveraging tools like PyBind11 or developing custom extensions where Python's inherent limitations necessitate it. You will be instrumental in driving improvements across the entire model pipeline, focusing on memory efficiency, latency reduction, and throughput maximization.
• • Ensuring the integrity and reliability of our model is paramount. You will be responsible for maintaining correctness, numerical stability, and reproducibility as the model undergoes continuous evolution and enhancement. This requires a deep understanding of the underlying algorithms and a rigorous approach to testing and validation. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with our world-class ML researchers, translating their groundbreaking innovations into production-ready capabilities. This involves understanding complex research concepts and implementing them efficiently and robustly within our production systems.

You will be expected to take ownership of significant parts of the ML system, from initial design through to deployment and ongoing maintenance. The ability to think critically about system design, scalability, and maintainability will be crucial. You will work with state-of-the-art techniques in deep learning for tabular data, contributing to the advancement of the field.
