• The advent of Large Language Models (LLMs) has democratized access to powerful AI capabilities, enabling individuals without extensive machine learning backgrounds to drive significant business outcomes rapidly. Parafin is seeking a highly motivated, early-career Applied AI Engineer to capitalize on this technological shift. This role is pivotal in leveraging industry-leading AI models to conceptualize and execute innovative initiatives across our critical financial infrastructure, underwriting processes, risk modeling, merchant platforms, and partner integrations.
• As an Applied AI Engineer at Parafin, you will be instrumental in building end-to-end Generative AI (GenAI) based systems from the ground up. You will operate within a lean, fast-paced team environment, engaging with the entire technology stack. This includes responsibilities ranging from data collection, rigorous experimentation, and model development to the seamless integration of AI solutions into our production environments and ensuring their ongoing reliability and performance.
• A key aspect of this role involves shaping the strategic direction of our applied GenAI initiatives. You will actively engage with engineering and product teams across the company, identifying opportunities where GenAI can deliver substantial value and driving the adoption of these technologies. Your insights and contributions will directly influence our investment priorities in this rapidly evolving field.
• You will be responsible for architecting and implementing robust and scalable infrastructure to support our AI-driven solutions. This includes developing and maintaining platform-level monitoring and auditing systems, crucial for ensuring the safety, security, and compliance of our AI agents. Furthermore, you will play a key role in safely and effectively integrating these agents into our production environments, ensuring they operate reliably and ethically.
• Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, and other engineers, to deliver seamless product integrations. Your efforts will directly enhance the merchant experience, making our financial tools more intuitive and valuable for small businesses.

🎯 Requirements

• 1-4 years of experience in a relevant engineering role, demonstrating a strong motivation to own and deliver entire agentic projects.
• Familiarity with fundamental Large Language Model (LLM) principles and concepts.
• A bias towards first-principles thinking and a solid foundation in software engineering best practices.
• Proficiency in backend development, with a preference for Python, Go, or similar programming languages.
• A genuine passion for building impactful financial products that empower small businesses.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional settings.
