Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own and operate your own BeLocal Magazine territory as an independent Area Sales Director, acting as the local ambassador who introduces new movers and long-time residents to the best businesses, restaurants, and experiences in their community.
- • Drive every aspect of your publication’s success—prospecting, consultative selling, account management, content coordination, and event planning—while leveraging N2’s proven systems, award-winning creative, and 20 years of best-practice playbooks.
- • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of local advertisers (restaurants, salons, gyms, medical practices, home-service pros, etc.) by uncovering their growth goals and crafting multi-channel marketing packages that combine glossy print, targeted digital ads, and experiential events.
- • Cultivate authentic relationships with community influencers, city officials, school leaders, and neighborhood associations to source insider stories and secure high-impact distribution points that keep BeLocal magazines in readers’ hands and on their countertops.
- • Host and emcee small-scale gatherings—grand-opening ribbon cuttings, sip-and-shop nights, charity drives—that simultaneously spotlight partner businesses and deepen reader engagement, turning your publication into the social glue of the neighborhood.
- • Collaborate with N2’s in-house editorial and design teams to ensure every page reflects the voice of locals; you’ll gather resident-written content, coordinate photo shoots, and approve final layouts so each issue feels hyper-personal and impossible to ignore.
- • Track performance obsessively: monitor ad-retention rates, renewal percentages, digital click-through metrics, and event RSVPs, then iterate quickly to maximize ROI for advertisers and hit or exceed the revenue benchmarks that place you in the top-decile of all Area Directors.
- • Manage your P&L like a true entrepreneur—forecast monthly cash flow, control variable costs, reinvest profits into local sponsorships or additional marketing, and leverage N2’s back-office support for invoicing, collections, and royalty reporting so you can stay focused on growth.
- • Mentor and occasionally onboard junior sales reps or interns within your territory, sharing the consultative, low-pressure N2 sales methodology that has fueled eight consecutive Inc. 5000 appearances and a culture celebrated by Entrepreneur, Fortune, and Glassdoor.
- • Champion the N2 mission of “working with people you actually like” by embodying servant leadership, celebrating peers’ wins in company-wide Slack channels, and attending quarterly regional retreats where best practices, spiritual growth, and financial goal-setting are openly shared.
- • Embrace a hybrid work style: operate primarily from a home office or favorite co-working space, yet maintain a visible local presence through in-person client visits, chamber-of-commerce mixers, and distribution runs to coffee shops, gyms, and apartment complexes.
- • Enjoy uncapped commission potential—top 10% of single-publication Area Directors average $132,850 annually—while benefiting from the brand equity, marketing collateral, and technology stack that only a 20-year market leader can provide.
