📋 Description

• We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Azure Architect to spearhead the design, deployment, and comprehensive management of a brand-new Azure tenant and its associated cloud infrastructure. This pivotal role is for one of Weekday's esteemed clients and offers a unique opportunity to build a robust, secure, and scalable cloud environment from the ground up.
• As the Azure Architect, you will be instrumental in establishing the foundational elements of the cloud platform, ensuring it adheres to the highest standards of performance, availability, security, and compliance. Your expertise will be crucial in translating business requirements into a technically sound and future-proof Azure solution.
• The core of your responsibility will involve architecting and implementing a new Azure tenant, meticulously defining its structure, and setting up robust governance frameworks. This includes establishing comprehensive policies, granular access controls, and stringent compliance standards that will govern the entire cloud ecosystem.
• You will be tasked with architecting the Azure environment to precisely meet defined performance, scalability, and availability requirements, ensuring that the infrastructure can support current needs and adapt to future growth.
• A significant part of this role involves the hands-on configuration and management of a wide array of critical Azure services. This includes, but is not limited to, Azure Traffic Manager and Azure Front Door for intelligent global traffic routing, Azure DDoS Protection and Azure Firewall for robust network security, and Microsoft Defender for comprehensive threat protection.
• You will also configure and manage Azure ExpressRoute for secure, high-speed hybrid connectivity, Microsoft Entra ID for identity and access management, and Azure Key Vault for secure storage of secrets and keys.
• The role demands expertise in data services such as Azure Blob Storage for object storage and Azure Cosmos DB for globally distributed, multi-model database solutions. Furthermore, you will manage event-driven architectures with Azure Event Hubs, and deploy scalable applications using Azure App Services, Azure VM Scale Sets, Azure Functions, and Azure Logic Apps.
• Operational excellence will be driven through the implementation of Azure Log Analytics and Azure Monitor for comprehensive monitoring, and Microsoft Sentinel for advanced security information and event management (SIEM).
• For containerized workloads, you will deploy and manage Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and for API-driven solutions, Azure API Management will be under your purview. Caching strategies will be implemented using Azure Cache for Redis.
• Ensuring business continuity and resilience is paramount. This involves establishing and rigorously testing a disaster recovery (DR) environment using Azure Site Recovery and Azure Backup services. You will be responsible for designing and validating failover strategies to guarantee high availability, business continuity, and data integrity under all circumstances.
• Security and compliance are non-negotiable. You will implement industry-leading security best practices across the entire Azure ecosystem. This includes the meticulous configuration of DDoS protection, Azure Firewall, Microsoft Defender, and the secure management of secrets and keys via Azure Key Vault.
• A key aspect of this role involves ensuring compliance with specific industry requirements, particularly healthcare standards, by leveraging Azure Health Data Services (FHIR) and integrating with Power BI for insightful data visualization and reporting.
• Network optimization will be a continuous focus, utilizing Azure Traffic Manager and Front Door to optimize global traffic routing and configuring secure hybrid connectivity via ExpressRoute to ensure low latency, resilience, and overall performance efficiency.
• You will establish a centralized monitoring strategy using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Microsoft Sentinel, creating proactive alerting mechanisms and defining clear incident response processes.
• Beyond technical implementation, you will collaborate closely with development teams, providing architectural guidance for the integration of services like AKS, API Management, Event Hubs, Functions, Logic Apps, and Cosmos DB. You will be responsible for creating detailed architecture diagrams and comprehensive technical documentation, and conducting knowledge transfer sessions to empower other teams.
• This role requires a proactive approach to ongoing infrastructure optimization and providing essential post-deployment operational support, ensuring the Azure environment remains efficient, secure, and aligned with business objectives.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 9 years of experience in IT, with a significant portion focused on cloud architecture and Azure.
• Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing complex Azure environments, including tenant setup, governance, security, networking, and disaster recovery.
• Deep understanding and hands-on experience with a wide range of Azure services, including but not limited to Azure Traffic Manager, Azure Front Door, Azure DDoS Protection, Azure Firewall, Microsoft Defender, Azure ExpressRoute, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Event Hubs, Azure App Services, Azure VM Scale Sets, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Log Analytics, Azure Monitor, Microsoft Sentinel, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure API Management, Azure Cache for Redis, Azure Backup Service, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Health Data Services (FHIR), and Power BI integration.
• Expertise in establishing and implementing cloud governance frameworks, policies, access controls, and compliance standards, with a particular emphasis on healthcare compliance (FHIR).
