📋 Description
- • The Business Banking Credit Risk Analyst Expert – 2nd Line plays a critical role in safeguarding the financial health of the organization by conducting advanced credit risk analysis on the small business portfolio, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulatory standards, and supporting strategic decision-making through data-driven insights.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include leading quantitative analysts in data interpretation, mentoring junior staff, performing complex data analysis using SQL, SAS, and Excel, monitoring portfolio performance against risk appetite, guiding model development and validation, and ensuring adherence to risk and regulatory standards while promoting an inclusive workplace culture aligned with M&T Bank’s values.
- • The role sits within M&T Bank’s Credit Risk Management team, a function dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the bank’s lending practices through rigorous analysis, model governance, and proactive risk identification, supporting both business innovation and regulatory compliance.
- • In this role, the individual will deepen expertise in credit risk modeling, regulatory capital processes (including ACL and capital adequacy), and cross-functional collaboration, while developing leadership and mentoring capabilities that prepare them for greater influence in risk strategy and enterprise-wide decision-making.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (minimum 11 years total, including at least 7 years relevant experience)
- • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in banking or financial services
- • Advanced proficiency in SQL, SAS, SAS Enterprise Miner, and Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and analysis
- • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analytical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
