Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Join the Public Safety Application Consultancy Team at NECSWS as a Business Consultant specialising in Control Room Products and Services for UK policing and fire & rescue services. You will become the trusted advisor who bridges operational reality with cutting-edge technology, ensuring that mission-critical systems truly serve the brave men and women who protect our communities every day.
- • Own end-to-end consultancy engagements for Police and Fire Services customers, translating complex operational requirements into clear, achievable roadmaps for NECSWS Control Room product implementations. You will run discovery workshops, map current-state processes, identify capability gaps, and design future-state workflows that improve response times, reduce risk, and exceed regulatory standards.
- • Act as the definitive subject-matter expert on NECSWS Control Room software—spanning command and control systems, Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), integrated communications, data migration, and system integration. You will configure, demonstrate, and optimise these products so that control-room operators can focus on saving lives instead of wrestling with technology.
- • Deliver consultancy through multiple channels—on-site at force headquarters, virtually via secure video links, and through meticulously crafted documentation and training packs. Whether you are presenting to a Chief Constable, training control-room supervisors, or drafting a data-migration playbook, your communication will be precise, empathetic, and tailored to each audience.
- • Lead high-stakes demonstrations and proof-of-concept sessions, showcasing how NECSWS solutions handle real-world emergency scenarios such as multi-agency major incidents, high-risk missing-person searches, or large-scale fire evacuations. Your demos will convert sceptics into champions and secure buy-in across operational, IT, and executive stakeholders.
- • Shape the future of our consultancy portfolio by co-creating new service offerings for emerging software releases. You will collaborate with product management to translate roadmap features into billable consultancy packages, define reusable accelerators, and craft go-to-market collateral that differentiates NECSWS in competitive tenders.
- • Champion best-practice adoption by mapping NECSWS capabilities against national frameworks such as the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) IT standards, Home Office Data Standards, and Fire Standards Board guidelines. You will ensure every recommendation strengthens compliance, interoperability, and information governance.
- • Drive continuous customer satisfaction by embedding yourself in client steering groups, capturing feedback loops, and rapidly escalating product issues to engineering and support teams. Your insights will directly influence product backlog prioritisation, ensuring the voice of the emergency services is heard at the highest levels.
- • Elevate the capability of the wider consultancy team through internal training, lunch-and-learn sessions, and one-to-one mentoring. You will curate a living knowledge base of control-room processes, configuration tips, and lessons learned, turning individual expertise into organisational intellectual property.
- • Stay ahead of the curve by monitoring regulatory shifts, technological advances, and operational trends across UK emergency services. You will distil this intelligence into quarterly briefings for colleagues and clients, positioning NECSWS as the thought leader that anticipates change rather than reacting to it.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven hands-on experience working within UK Police or Fire & Rescue control-room environments, with deep understanding of operational workflows, compliance obligations, and performance pressures
- • Demonstrable expertise in at least one NECSWS Control Room product (CAD, command & control, integrated communications) or equivalent vendor solutions such as Storm, Premier, or Vision
- • Strong stakeholder-management skills with the ability to engage credibly with senior officers, control-room supervisors, IT architects, and frontline operators simultaneously
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing board-level strategy papers, user-guides, and real-time training materials that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences
- • Willingness to travel across the UK for on-site engagements (estimated 25–40 %) and hold or be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC or higher)
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first working model with flexible hours, allowing you to balance mission-critical consultancy with personal commitments
- • Investment in continuous professional development including funded certifications, conference attendance, and access to a dedicated R&D lab environment
- • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell up to 5 additional days, and a generous pension contribution scheme
- • Private medical insurance, life assurance, and an employee assistance programme that provides 24/7 mental-health and wellbeing support
