Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • As a Business Controller for Global Financial Crime & Fraud Prevention at ING, you will play a pivotal role at the heart of the bank's operational finance strategy. This head office position, situated within the Global COO organisation in Amsterdam, offers a unique opportunity to oversee the financial health and performance of critical global functions dedicated to combating financial crime and preventing fraud. You will be a key advisor, directly influencing strategic decisions and operational efficiency across the entire bank.
- • This is not a traditional accounting or project control role. Instead, it is a true Business Control and FP&A position operating at the global level. Your primary responsibility will be to provide insightful financial analysis and strategic advice that directly impacts the bank's performance and decision-making processes. You will be an integral part of a high-performing, tight-knit team of seven experienced finance professionals, working at the very centre of ING's strategic operations.
- • Your core function will be to act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, including the Management Team of Global Financial Crime & Fraud Prevention, the Group COO, the Group CFO, and Group Finance. This involves providing critical financial insights, challenging assumptions, and supporting strategic initiatives with robust financial expertise.
- • A significant part of your role will be leading the budgeting and forecasting processes for the Global Financial Crime & Fraud Prevention domain. This requires aligning financial plans with strategic objectives and actively challenging senior stakeholders across all global locations and Head Office departments to ensure fiscal responsibility and optimal resource allocation.
- • You will functionally manage and coach 1-2 team members, guiding them in supporting the domain's business control processes. This leadership aspect is crucial for developing talent within the team and ensuring the smooth execution of financial oversight.
- • A key skill will be your ability to translate complex financial data into sharp, actionable insights. This means going beyond mere reporting to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and presenting them in a clear, concise manner that enables effective decision-making by senior management.
- • You will be instrumental in driving discussions around cost modelling, allocation, and efficiency improvements. This involves analysing cost structures, recommending optimal allocation methodologies, and identifying areas where efficiencies can be gained without compromising the effectiveness of financial crime and fraud prevention efforts.
- • Supporting strategic initiatives and transformation projects with your financial expertise will be another critical aspect of the role. You will provide the financial perspective needed to evaluate the viability, impact, and financial implications of new strategies and projects, ensuring they align with the bank's overall financial goals.
- • This role demands a proactive and resilient individual who can navigate a large, complex, and often ambiguous global matrix organisation. You must be comfortable managing competing priorities and influencing stakeholders at various levels, demonstrating confidence and a clear vision.
- • You will be expected to challenge the status quo, bringing an analytical and hands-on approach to problem-solving. This involves not only identifying issues but also developing and implementing solutions that enhance financial control and operational effectiveness.
- • The role offers high visibility, providing direct exposure to the senior leadership of Global Financial Crime & Fraud Prevention, the Group COO, and Group Finance. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact and build your profile within ING's global finance community.
- • You will be part of a dynamic team that is dedicated to driving performance at the group level, contributing to ING's mission of protecting the bank and its customers from financial crime and fraud.
- • This position is ideal for someone seeking career growth within ING's extensive global finance network, which comprises hundreds of professionals across the Netherlands and internationally. You will have access to numerous opportunities for professional development and advancement.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in Business Control and/or Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) at a global or large corporate level. Experience solely in accounting or project control is not considered a direct fit for this role.
- • Strong communication and influencing skills, with a demonstrated ability to confidently engage with and advise senior stakeholders.
- • Proven ability to navigate a large, complex, and often ambiguous global matrix organisation, exhibiting proactivity, resilience, and effective management of competing priorities.
- • Highly analytical and hands-on approach, with a demonstrated comfort in challenging the status quo and driving improvements.
- • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with BI tools like Power BI, and financial consolidation/reporting tools such as Hyperion or SmartView, is considered a strong advantage.
🏖️ Benefits
- • A competitive salary indication tailored to your qualities and experience, within the GJA18 band.
- • Flexible working arrangements, including a 36 or 40-hour workweek and hybrid working options to blend home and office-based collaboration.
- • A 12-month contract with a strong view towards extension, offering stability and long-term potential.
- • Generous leave policy, including 24 individual holiday days (based on a 36-hour workweek), diversity leave, and CSR days for community engagement.
- • Comprehensive financial benefits, including a 13th-month salary, 8% holiday payment, and an Individual Savings Contribution (BIS) of 3.5% of your gross annual salary.
- • Attractive pension scheme and a mobility card for commuting assistance.
