- • As the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and MLRO for Coinbase Bermuda, you will be instrumental in upholding Coinbase's mission to be the most trusted cryptocurrency company by spearheading and managing all facets of the organization's Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Programs within Bermuda.
- • This pivotal role involves direct oversight and strategic management of Coinbase's regulatory obligations, ensuring robust adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
- • You will serve as the primary liaison between Coinbase Bermuda and the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA), cultivating and maintaining a strong, collaborative relationship.
- • A key responsibility will be to provide expert strategic advisory services to our business and product teams, guiding them through complex compliance landscapes and ensuring that compliance is integrated into the core of our operations.
- • You will proactively identify and interpret all relevant regulatory requirements impacting Coinbase Bermuda, translating them into actionable compliance strategies and ensuring ongoing adherence.
- • Staying ahead of the curve, you will continuously monitor regulatory developments within Bermuda that could potentially affect Coinbase's business operations, and in partnership with internal stakeholders, deploy necessary changes to maintain full compliance.
- • You will be responsible for delivering regular, comprehensive updates to Bermuda senior management and the Coinbase Bermuda Board of Directors, covering the status of the Compliance Program and the broader regulatory environment.
- • Crucially, you will ensure the appropriate and timely escalation of any compliance incidents or material issues to Compliance and business leadership, as well as the Board, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.
- • This role encompasses the management of all regulatory notifications, comment letters, and other official communications, as well as handling day-to-day regulatory interactions with the BMA.
- • You will oversee the execution of thorough Compliance Risk Assessments, verifying the adequacy and effectiveness of existing systems and controls to ensure that risks are managed proactively and comprehensively.
- • A significant duty involves ensuring that all company policies are consistently updated to reflect evolving regulatory requirements and dynamic business needs, maintaining their relevance and efficacy.
- • You will oversee the successful deployment of relevant Compliance training programs tailored for local employees, ensuring a well-informed and compliant workforce.
- • A critical aspect of the role is ensuring the timely remediation of all findings identified by third parties, including Internal Audit and regulatory examinations, as well as any self-identified issues, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.
- • You will foster strong partnerships with Compliance and Product stakeholders to ensure that compliance obligations are meticulously considered and embedded into the design and development of new products or expansion initiatives.
- • This includes ensuring appropriate documentation is maintained and policies and procedures are updated accordingly to reflect these new initiatives.
- • You will manage and cultivate global relationships with key internal stakeholders and senior management, promoting a unified and consistent approach to the development and execution of an effective and integrated control environment across the organization.

🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of experience in compliance, with a significant portion in senior leadership roles.
- • Direct, first-hand knowledge of financial services and anti-money laundering regulations specific to Bermuda, including proven experience liaising with the Bermuda Monetary Authority.
- • Demonstrated ability to independently manage the day-to-day operations of a Compliance Program, including handling audits and regulatory examinations.
- • Proven experience in building and scaling Compliance Programs from the ground up or significantly enhancing existing ones.
- • Experience in developing and administering internal controls and processes, with a track record of successful collaboration with remote, global teams.
- • Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of business functions, with a strong emphasis on effective engagement with senior management.
- • Demonstrated ability to generate and execute strategic initiatives across a global organization.
- • Ability to develop, foster, and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of people within the organization, as well as with external stakeholders and vendors.
