đź“‹ Description
- • The Cloud Operations Engineer 2 role at Kong Inc. is a hybrid technical and financial strategist position focused on optimizing cloud usage, ensuring security compliance, and aligning cloud infrastructure with business objectives in non-production environments. This role is critical to maintaining cost efficiency, operational transparency, and security governance across Kong’s internal cloud and SaaS ecosystems, directly supporting the company’s mission to power the agentic era through reliable, scalable API and AI connectivity.
- • As a Cloud Systems Analyst specializing in FinOps and Security, you will serve as the vital bridge between business units, IT, finance, and security teams, translating operational needs into actionable technical and financial strategies that drive accountability, reduce waste, and strengthen the organization’s cloud posture.
- • You will partner with technical product owners, IT teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to deeply understand business processes and objectives, then translate those needs into detailed technical specifications, user stories, and process flows that enable seamless IT implementation and alignment with organizational strategy.
- • Your day-to-day will involve monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing cloud usage across AWS, GCP, and Azure using FinOps platforms to maximize cost efficiency while ensuring internal teams have the resources they need to innovate and deliver.
- • You will define and enforce cloud resource tagging standards and cost allocation models to enable accurate chargebacks and financial transparency, then collaborate with finance and business leaders to produce monthly OPEX variance reports, forecasts, and actionable insights that inform strategic decision-making.
- • A core part of your role will be identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives such as rightsizing non-production resources, implementing auto-shutdown and scheduling policies, and strategically leveraging Reserved Instances and Savings Plans for internal tools — all while maintaining performance and availability.
- • You will establish and lead governance processes for reviewing the security posture of critical SaaS platforms like Google Workspace, regularly analyzing security logs, audit trails, and access reports to detect anomalies, unauthorized access, or policy violations.
- • When risks are identified, you will document them clearly, collaborate with the Security team to define remediation plans with clear owners and timelines, and ensure all system changes adhere to internal security standards and compliance requirements.
- • Kong Inc. is a pioneer in API and AI connectivity, trusted by Fortune 500 companies and startups worldwide to power the agentic era through its Kong Konnect platform — a unified solution for securing, managing, accelerating, governing, and monetizing intelligence across APIs and AI models. Joining Kong means contributing to a mission-driven culture that values innovation, technical excellence, and operational integrity in a fast-growing, globally distributed environment.
- • In this role, you will develop deep expertise in cloud financial operations (FinOps), cross-cloud cost optimization, SaaS security governance, and business systems analysis — skills that are increasingly vital in modern enterprises. You’ll gain hands-on experience with industry-leading tools and frameworks while making a measurable impact on Kong’s operational efficiency, security resilience, and financial accountability.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3–5 years of experience in a blended role combining Business Analysis, Cloud Infrastructure, and/or Financial Management, with demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities across cloud operations, security compliance, and business initiatives.
- • Proven FinOps expertise managing cloud billing, cost reporting, and optimization across at least two major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure), with strong focus on OPEX and non-production environments.
- • Working understanding of IT security fundamentals, IAM concepts, and hands-on experience reviewing SaaS security logs and audit data (e.g., Google Workspace), plus proficiency with FinOps platforms, Jira, Confluence, and data analysis/reporting tools.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Hybrid work model requiring three days per week in the Kong Bangalore office, balancing in-person collaboration with flexibility.
- • Opportunity to work at the forefront of API and AI infrastructure innovation with a company trusted by global enterprises and backed by strong growth momentum.
- • Exposure to cutting-edge FinOps and cloud security practices, enabling professional growth in high-demand, interdisciplinary domains at the intersection of technology, finance, and security.
