Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Join Olsson as a Remote Design Engineer and help shape communities that last generations. You’ll translate complex challenges into elegant, sustainable infrastructure—bridges that connect neighborhoods, water systems that safeguard public health, and energy grids that power tomorrow’s innovations.
  • • Own the full design lifecycle from concept through construction documents. You’ll run hydraulic models, size structural members, draft in Civil 3D and Revit, and shepherd plans through QA/QC and agency review. Every line you draw directly impacts safety, cost, and environmental stewardship.
  • • Collaborate daily with multidisciplinary teams spread across 30+ offices. You’ll pair with environmental scientists to reduce wetland impacts, coordinate with survey crews to refine topographic data, and present alternatives to municipal clients in concise, jargon-free language that wins buy-in.
  • • Champion innovation by piloting digital twins, drone-based inspections, and AI-driven clash detection. You’ll test new workflows, document lessons learned, and roll out best practices firm-wide, turning Olsson into an industry pacesetter.
  • • Mentor junior engineers and EITs through code reviews, lunch-and-learns, and one-on-one coaching. Your guidance accelerates their path to licensure and strengthens our talent pipeline.
  • • Manage multiple concurrent projects—budgets, schedules, and client expectations—using Deltek Vantagepoint. You’ll forecast resource needs, flag risks early, and deliver every milestone on time and under budget.
  • • Travel up to 15 % for site visits, public meetings, and design charrettes. You’ll walk levees with operators, climb water towers at sunrise, and listen to residents so their lived experience informs every design decision.
  • • Drive sustainable outcomes by integrating low-impact development, renewable materials, and carbon-reduction strategies. Your work will help Olsson meet its 2030 net-zero operations goal and win ENR Green Project awards.
  • • Translate data into stories. You’ll craft visual dashboards that show how a new roundabout reduces crashes by 40 % or how a green roof saves 1.2 million gallons of stormwater annually, turning technical victories into client loyalty.
  • • Stay ahead of evolving codes—AASHTO, AWWA, IBC, LEED v5—and ensure every design exceeds minimums. You’ll serve on industry committees, publish white papers, and position Olsson as a thought leader.
  • • Cultivate client relationships that span decades. From the first proposal to ribbon-cutting, you’ll be the trusted advisor who anticipates needs, offers creative options, and delivers peace of mind.
  • • Celebrate wins together. Whether it’s a virtual high-five on Teams or an in-person toast at a project closeout, you’ll be part of a culture that recognizes every contribution and fuels continuous improvement.
