• Supervise all compounding personnel including pharmacy technicians and essential support staff to ensure accurate and efficient preparation of compounded medications.
• Perform and accurately document compounding procedures, quality assurance/quality control checks, and dispensing of compounded preparations.
• Verify formula records, compounding records, beyond use dates, and finished compounded products to ensure compliance with USP <795>, <800>, and other applicable general chapters.
• Assist in training, evaluating, and mentoring compounding personnel to maintain high standards of practice and safety.
• Coordinate calibration, maintenance, and proper use of compounding equipment in collaboration with the maintenance team.
• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling hazardous drugs in accordance with USP <800> and federal/state regulations.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and compliant compounding environment as mandated by FDA and Arizona State Board of Pharmacy rules.
• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives, audits, and quality assurance projects to enhance operational excellence.
• Conduct pharmacist duties including patient counseling, drug utilization reviews, error documentation, and dispensing activities.
• Coordinate with the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) on personnel management, compliance, and regulatory matters.
• Ensure full compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, including those set by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy and the FDA.
• Complete all necessary inventory, recordkeeping, auditing, and project work as assigned to support pharmacy operations.
• Follow infection-control protocols to protect patients and staff during compounding and dispensing activities.
• Work cross-functionally with remote teams to support operational workflows and compliance standards.
• Perform physical tasks including standing up to 100% of the shift, lifting up to 50 pounds, squatting, bending, reaching, and walking for prolonged periods.
• Wear required respiratory protection and PPE for extended durations when handling hazardous drugs.
• Complete external training as required to maintain regulatory compliance and professional competency.
• Maintain proficiency in Windows-based computer systems for order entry, recordkeeping, and operational documentation.
• Deliver a world-class pharmacy experience to every patient through accuracy, professionalism, and patient-centered care.
• Be available to work Sunday through Wednesday shifts from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
🎯 Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy
• Active Pharmacist License in Arizona
• 5+ years of pharmacist experience, with at least 3 years in a compounding pharmacy
• Non-sterile compounding experience
• Must be able to undergo and pass respirator fit testing; full beards or excessive facial hair may prevent proper seal
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for prolonged periods
