As a Data Centre Operations Engineer for the EMEA region, you will play a critical role in expanding and maintaining Kraken's robust infrastructure, ensuring the seamless operation of one of the world's most prominent digital asset platforms.
• This is a hands-on, hybrid role that demands a dynamic, innovative, and self-starting individual with a proven ability to think creatively and solve complex problems sustainably. You will be joining a highly motivated Infrastructure Operations team dedicated to managing and enhancing Kraken's global network and compute infrastructure.
• Your primary responsibility will be performing highly skilled preventative and corrective on-site maintenance for critical exchange infrastructure. This includes proactive checks, troubleshooting, and rapid resolution of issues to minimize downtime and ensure the highest levels of service availability.
• You will also be responsible for performing highly skilled installations of complex server and network infrastructure. This involves the physical setup, configuration, and integration of new hardware, ensuring it meets Kraken's stringent performance and security standards.
• The role extends to providing essential hands-on facility support within data centers. This encompasses a range of tasks such as the physical installation of new equipment, the decommissioning of outdated hardware, the replacement of faulty components, and conducting internal audits to maintain operational integrity and compliance.
• A key aspect of your role will be meticulous Asset and Inventory management. You will be responsible for tracking, documenting, and managing all physical assets within the data center environment, ensuring accurate records for auditing, planning, and operational efficiency.
• You will take ownership of the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors. This involves ensuring that all external work performed adheres strictly to established practices, procedures, and local legislation, maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.
• A significant part of your contribution will be bootstrapping physical infrastructure using out-of-band management networks. This requires a deep understanding of remote management tools and protocols to ensure infrastructure can be accessed and managed even in adverse network conditions.
• You will assist with basic network configuration, specifically for setting up secure and reliable out-of-band device access, which is crucial for remote troubleshooting and management.
• Contribute to capacity planning management, scaling infrastructure, and ensuring seamless interconnectivity with other data centers across Kraken's global footprint.
• You will actively monitor and maintain all physical infrastructure, including network devices, security hardware, and compute resources, across data centers and remote office locations. This includes responding effectively to critical problems to maximize service uptime.
• Assume on-call responsibilities and duties as per the established schedule, providing 24/7 support for critical infrastructure incidents.
• Travel will be required to support physical data center operations and on-site infrastructure, such as Wi-Fi access points and internet circuits, as well as to new facilities to support planning for future infrastructure expansion. A valid passport and driving license are mandatory for this aspect of the role.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in data center operations, preferably within a highly security-focused environment.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a large-scale data center environment, demonstrating familiarity with complex infrastructure.
• Basic knowledge of IP addressing, including an understanding of subnets and gateway configuration, specifically for out-of-band device management.
• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting objects weighing more than 25 kgs.
• Valid passport and driving license are mandatory due to travel requirements.
