- • As Manager of Data Science for Financial Engineering at OpenAI, you will lead the measurement, experimentation, and optimization strategy that powers the company’s monetization infrastructure, directly impacting revenue durability, international expansion, and customer experience.
- • You will own the FinEng Measurement Strategy by defining north-star revenue metrics, establishing guardrails for conversion and risk, and aligning product metrics with financial reporting in partnership with Finance.
- • You will lead and scale experimentation by building and overseeing the experimentation program for in-house checkout and subscription systems, defining staged rollouts, and raising the bar on causal rigor across monetization decisions.
- • You will build and lead the FinEng DS team by hiring, mentoring, and growing high-impact data scientists, setting technical direction for experimentation and causal inference, and creating operating rhythms that translate insights into shipping decisions.
- • You will drive global monetization optimization by leading analytics for international payment method expansion, FX strategy, and pricing localization, reducing involuntary churn, and developing elasticity frameworks that inform long-term revenue strategy.
- • You will build durable data infrastructure by partnering with FinEng Data Engineering to create source-of-truth datasets, establishing SLIs/SLOs and alerting, and ensuring analytics scales with product and geographic expansion.
- • The role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid model (3 days/week in office) and includes relocation support.

🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years in data science, experimentation, or product analytics, including leadership experience
- • Experience leading monetization, payments, checkout, or subscription analytics
- • Deep fluency in SQL and Python, and strong causal inference instincts
- • A track record of building experimentation platforms or scaling testing programs
- • Experience managing or mentoring high-performing data scientists
- • Strong executive communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional leaders
