📋 Description

• A Design Engineer at Ashby combines design and coding expertise to solve complex product challenges, directly impacting over 100,000 weekly active users and millions of candidates per week through work on features used by notable customers like Notion, Linear, Shopify, and Snowflake.
• Day to day, you will design and implement end-to-end solutions—from wireframing and prototyping to shipping production code—while contributing to and evolving Ashby’s in-house design system, consulting with Product Engineers, and improving user experiences such as mobile web flows and candidate assessment interfaces.
• You’ll join a small, high-trust engineering team that values minimal process, deep ownership, and natural collaboration, where engineers run their own projects from problem brief to solution, supported by a culture of deliberate communication, focus time, and biannual in-person meetups.
• In this role, you’ll grow your ability to bridge design and engineering, influence product direction through technical and visual excellence, and make meaningful contributions to a design system used at scale—all while working in an environment that prioritizes impact over perfection and learning through shipping and feedback.

🎯 Requirements

• Proficiency in TypeScript, React, and CSS
• Experience designing products and shipping code to hundreds of users (including side projects)
• Strong visual taste and execution in UI/UX design
• Ability to work independently with minimal process and take ownership of end-to-end solutions
• Collaborative mindset with deliberate communication skills
• Interest in contributing to and evolving a shared design system
